Reginald the Vampire (Season 1) Recap:

How does Reginald become a vampire?

The show begins with a scene with a bearded man in a car on a fairly empty street, treating his date in the rudest possible way. Maurice Miller (Mandela Van Peebles) notices it from a distance and decides to show the misogynist his place. He gets into the manโ€™s car, and soon after, his fangs appear. Maurice kills the man, and we realize that he is a vampire. Right after, the focus shifts to Reginald Baskin (Jacob Batalon), who works at Slushy Shack and has serious self-esteem issues because of his weight.

Reggieโ€™s 28-year-old manager Todd (Aren Buchholz), keeps fat shaming him to the point Reggie himself frequently jokes about himself. We learn how he uses self-deprecation as a way to cope with his anxieties. However, thereโ€™s more to his identity. His parents left him when he was little and moved to Hawaii. So he sulks in misery about his sad and lonely life. The only light he finds in his self-imposed miserable life is his co-worker Sarah Kinney (Em Haine). They have an adorable way of communicating through song lyrics. Regardless, he struggles to ask her out on a date.

One of their regular customers, Claire (Thailey Roberge), comes in to ask for one specific juice that she always orders. Meanwhile, Maurice, who is on a hunt due to his hunger, is on the lookout for his next prey. He notices Reginaldโ€™s desperation and decides to help him. After serving Maurice his drink and ending his shift, Reggie goes out and cries for help while looking at the sky – even if, earlier, he makes it clear that he is an atheist. He wants to gain enough confidence to ask Sarah out on a date.

Thatโ€™s when Maurice joins Reggie and ‘glamours’ him (manipulates/lures him into doing/acting in a certain way) so that he can fulfill his wish. Reggie returns to the store, asks Sarah, and she agrees. Todd continues to impress Sarah with his macho charisma but fails miserably. On the other hand, Reggie keeps doubting himself, thinking that something will go wrong during his date with Sarah. He keeps reciting the classic Henry Ford quote โ€“ โ€˜If you always do what youโ€™ve always done, youโ€™ll always get what youโ€™ve always got,โ€™ to boost his confidence. But it fails to help him.

Later, Reggie talks about these insecurities with Maurice in a bar. That is when four vampires approach them. Two males โ€“ LeBron (Sean Yves Lessard) and Isaac (Andre Anthony) approach Maurice calling out his โ€˜impertinenceโ€™ for letting Reggie be a vampire, even if he does not fit in their conventional beauty standards. Meanwhile, two females, Moira (Rachelle Goulding) & Penelope (Georgia Waters), approach Reginald and lure him so that they can bite him and quench their thirst. Luckily, Maurice saves Reggie from their attack. Then, he asks wounded Reggie for his permission to โ€˜fix the situationโ€™ and to save him from dying. Reggie accepts, and Maurice turns him into a vampire.

Later, Maurice reveals it to Reggie. Reggie learns that despite getting eternal life, he will be bound to live with the body he had when he was bitten. He feels terrible that he won’t be able to work on any changes. The next day, Reggie wakes up to realize that he gets scars if his skin is exposed to the sunlight. Since he has not fulfilled his hunger for flesh and blood, he starts seeing every human around him as prey. He notices it first-hand when he finds an irresistible urge to attack his co-worker Ashley (Marguerite Hanna). He fears he will attack Sarah the same way and, thus, cancels his date with her.

Later on, Reggie learns more about his new identity from Maurice. He realizes that he will have a telepathic connection (sire bond) with his maker/sire, Maurice. Besides, he learns about his superpower to read rapidly and still remember everything. He and Maurice have a heart-to-heart about their pasts. Reggie talks about losing his parents and how this Slushy Shack job was not his long-term plan. Maurice talks about his parents, who died long ago. He shares his experience of getting turned into a vampire by Angela (Savannah Basley).

Back in the โ€˜70s, Maurice and Angela were part of the Black Panther Party. Maurice was enraged at the white Americans who kept harassing colored people due to their inherent prejudices. Maurice craved justice, and Angela perceived this craving as an opportunity. Later at night, she brought him to an alley and asked him for his permission to ‘change him’ in a particular way. She said that it would help him get the justice he always sought. Maurice accepted the change, and now decades later, he stands next to his vampire child, Reggie. Still, Maurice refuses to share any details about Angelaโ€™s present situation.

On the other hand, we see the four vampires from the bar incident appear next to present-day Angela. Since they left Reginaldโ€™s body without disposing of it, Angela turns Moira to dust to show what she is capable of. Meanwhile, the vampiric ability continue to create tension in Reggieโ€™s life. However, Sarah has no clue about it. She shows up at his apartment and asks to give their relationship another chance. She says that she also likes him the way he does. Even if his long-held wish comes true, he gets scared that their relationship will end badly. He believes this because Maurice told him about how he hurt someone dear to him.

Reggie locks himself inside his bathroom since he is not confident enough to reject Sarah to her face. By then, Maurice enters Reggie’s apartment and glamours Sarah so that she will forget the memories related to Reggie asking her out. She leaves the apartment while Reggie is left feeling dejected. Later, at Slushy Shacks, Sarah starts noticing signs of slight memory lapses. Ashley comes up with theories about why that is happening. Meanwhile, Reggie struggles to satiate his hunger since he fails at every attempt at sucking someoneโ€™s blood. He ends up with some serious skin damage, and his eyes also turn entirely black.

Angela is mad at Maurice for letting Reggie be a vampire despite knowing the vampiric beauty standards (the usual ones โ€“ a vampire must be lean and attractive). So, she is determined to kill Maurice. To do the deed, she sends her men to attack him. Later, she decides to burn him to death. By that time, Reginald tries to feed on Claire but ends up revealing his identity to her. The next day, she suggests he suck Toddโ€™s blood since Todd keeps bullying him. Reginald does so and turns Todd into a vampire.

Meanwhile, through his connection to Maurice, Reggie senses that Maurice is in danger. He uses his navigation powers to reach Maurice and saves his life. However, before reaching Maurice, Reggie glamours a 10-foot-tall vampire, Erich. Maurice cannot believe it since he sees it impossible for a vampire to glamour another vampire. Reggie calls it his superpower and continues to use Erich as his best friend/slave. But Maurice forbids Reggie to glamour any other vampire.

Angela notices Reggie save Maurice despite being a fat vampire. She expects him to appear for a test called โ€˜The Assessmentโ€™ to be officially accepted by their community. In case Reggie fails in it, he will be sentenced to death. But there’s more to it. The vampire who sired Reggie (Maurice) and the humans who know about Reggie’s identity (Claire) will die along with him. That is Angela’s plan to kill Reggie and Maurice since she is confident that Reggie will fail the Assessment.

As always, Reggie continues to struggle with confidence. And the added stakes to his conflict make him even more nervous. Still, he keeps manipulating Todd and seeks validation from him. Back at work, Ashley notices Reggie and Toddโ€™s strange behavior and is determined to find its connection to Sarahโ€™s memory lapses. During her investigation, she finds a document that proves that Sarah was with Reggie when she started noticing her problem. So, to learn about that night, Sarah shows up at Reggie’s apartment and asks Reggie out on a date. This time, he agrees.

Unfortunately, Penelope and LeBron invade Sarah & Reggieโ€™s first date. They tell Reggie that they want to suck Sarahโ€™s blood. So, to save Sarah, Reggie glamours them. During their dinner, he keeps using them for his amusement and manipulates them as per his will. The two vampires soon start vomiting, which makes Sarah nauseous. So, Reggie stops his experiment. But by then, Mauriceโ€™s flatmate โ€“ Mike (Ryan Jinn), notices Reggieโ€™s superpower (being able to glamour vampires).

Mike updates it to Angela and expects her to take action. But Angela is confident that Reginald will fail The Assessment, and so does not want to kill him before that. Meanwhile, in Slushy Shacks, Ashley notices a bite mark on Toddโ€™s neck. It explains why he was wearing scarves for the past few days. She figures he is a vampire and remains suspicious that Reggie is one as well. On the other hand, Maurice gets furious at Reginald for letting Sarah get close to him. He leaves Reggie high and dry while Mike chips in to guide Reggie in his Assessment preparation.

Meanwhile, Maurice travels to the family home that he left on a bitter note. It was from the time when he was a newly formed vampire. At the time, he attacked a racist cop. As a result, Angela suggested that they both leave the city immediately. On the way to Paris, Maurice stopped by his motherโ€™s (Lucia Walters) place (his family home), even if Angela did not want to delay their departure. Angela kept reminding Maurice that he was not the son that his mother expected him to be (he was not a human but a vampire).

Still, Maurice entered the house, saying they would have just a meal with his mother. Regardless, he kept prolonging his stay, which worried Angela. She knew that one way or the other, the truth would come out about his identity. So, Angela intently brought a body to Mauriceโ€™s motherโ€™s place so that Maurice could suck on it and his mother would notice it. While Maurice quenched his thirst, Angela turned his mother into a vampire. The mother was disgusted to see her son being a bloodsucker. As a devout Christian, she found it unacceptable. So, as salvation, she went out in the sunlight and killed herself.

In the present, Maurice returns to this house to find a specific herb (Herb of the Cross) that can resist a glamouring attempt. While looking around for this plant, he meets Landry (Adrian Hough). Maurice realizes a little late that Landry is the same orphan kid who used to join his mother for meals. Landry is angry at Maurice for killing his mother. Maurice tries to glamour him to make him forget these painful memories. But, Landry consumes enough herbs to form a resistance against Maurice’s powers. As a result, Maurice sees no other option but to kill Landry.

Meanwhile, Angela is on the lookout for Angelโ€™s blood that can kill Maurice. (It is the kind of blood that can instantly turn a vampire to dust). Besides, she brings Nikki (Christin Park) to their city. Nikki is a skilled assassin-vampire who has a reputation for ending countless lives. Angela summons Nikki to kill Reggie, while Reggie has no idea about this. He just tries to strengthen his bond with Sarah by going on yet another date.

Since Maurice is out-of-town, Reggie continues to use Todd for his amusement and keeps dating Sarah. When Maurice returns, he asks Reggie to go control his urges and not feed on Todd thereafter. He also saves Todd from Reggie’s spell and makes him a human again. On the other hand, Sarahโ€™s brother โ€“ Levy (Sean Depner), suddenly arrives in town and says that he, too, has decided to renounce his faith in Christianity like Sarah. He says that he now wants to be with her and make up for the lost time. However, he lies about his motivations. In reality, he wants to convert Sarah back to the Christian faith.

Sarah soon realizes Levyโ€™s real intent and tells him to go away. Reggie overhears their conversation and glamours Levy into thinking that he never met Sarah. Later, Reggie goes on a karaoke night date with Sarah, and Maurice joins them. Soon after, Angela walks in, and Maurice notices it. So, he suggests going to another bar. Still, Reggie decides to get up on stage to sing with Claire. Thatโ€™s when Nikki enters the bar and notices their singing. She gets mesmerized by Reggie and his angelic voice. She joins them on the stage and starts singing along with them. That’s when blood starts dripping down from her eyes.

Maurice drags Reggie out of the bar and warns him about Nikkiโ€™s evil intentions. Meanwhile, Ashley tries to forge a connection with Nikki since she falls in love with this assassin. Reggie walks back home after sharing his first kiss with Sarah. Once he enters his apartment, Nikki appears out of thin air and tries to kill him. He saves himself by manipulating her.

On the other hand, Maurice speaks with Sarah since he worries for her safety. Sarah feels like Reggie is hiding something from her. Maurice assures her that Reggie will speak about his secrets when he is on the other side of something (once he passes The Assessment). Meanwhile, Nikki tells Angela that she wonโ€™t kill Reggie since she loves him. So, Angela tries other ways to get Reggie killed. She decides to prepone Reggieโ€™s test to prepone his and Mauriceโ€™s death. Besides, she also glamours Sarah to get Reggie slain.

Later at night, Reggie and Sarah go on a date in a fancy hotel. Afterward, they decide to spend the night in one of the rooms. Before getting into bed, Sarah goes to the bathroom. Then suddenly, she grows an urge to kill Reggie and approach him with a dagger. Fortunately, Nikki barges into their room at the right moment and saves Reggie from getting slain. Later, she offers her own blood to satiate his hunger and uses this favor as a way to get close to him.

The next day, Sarah wakes up in another room and realizes that Reggie has already left the hotel. She recalls a few things from the previous night. In those memory flashes, she sees herself almost stabbing Reggie. So, she feels terrible and meets Maurice to talk about it. While Maurice consoles her, he tells Nikki to keep her distance from Reggie.

Reggie wakes up in a hotel bed with Reggie and rushes out to find Sarah. He speaks with Maurice, who figures Angela might have glamoured Sarah into killing him. Thatโ€™s when Reggie receives a text from Sarah, who asks him to meet her at a park bench. While the couple kisses each other, Nikki interrupts it since she is also in love with Reggie.

Reggie gets confused about who he should choose between them. For some reason, he decides to keep dating both and not be monogamous. However, the secret gets out when Sarah finds him in a room with Nikki. He tries to glamour her to forget about his cheating. But he was not aware that Maurice gave her a bracelet to protect her from getting glamoured. In the end, Sarah and Nikki both leave him for good. Reggie returns to Slushy Shack to find Todd being his old douche self. So, Reggie decides to undo Mauriceโ€™s action and approaches Todd to drink his blood. He notices excessive bleeding and believes that Todd is dead. So, with guilt, Reggie goes to Maurice’s place, expecting his help in covering Toddโ€™s murder. Maurice refuses to help him with it.

By then, Reginald gets tired of being a vampire. Since Nikki told him about Abraham – who can turn a vampire back into a human being, Reggie decides to find him. On his way, he stops at a bar and meets an old man named Billy. They talk about being at crossroads in their lives and then get into a game of poker. Reggie defeats the man. But Billy thinks that Reggie cheated in the game. However, Reggie refuses to return the money and instead scares him away with his vampire fangs.

When Billy and his friends leave, Reggie meets an elderly man named Jenkins (Bernard Cuffling), who offers his help to find Abraham. Jenkins wants to meet Abraham so he can have a heart and be a human again. Then Reggie enters a gathering without even walking up the stairs. He sees that there are no doors or stairs and gets puzzled by whatever is happening. All the invitees keep greeting him, which makes him feel even stranger.

The bartender tells him about several attempts to get Abraham killed. None of those people managed to kill him. Thatโ€™s when Stanley sits right next to Reggie, gets a drink, and then walks up to an elevator that suddenly appears in the room. Reggie decides to follow Stanley and enter the elevator. For some reason, he cannot enter it despite putting in all the effort. Then, all of a sudden, all the guests gather, walk up to Reggie, and keep looking at him. While they drag Jenkins, Reggie believes that they are all white blood cells attacking a virus. So, he tries to save Jenkins by calling himself a Virus.

Suddenly, the commotion stops since Reggie accepts that he is the virus (a bad person). He gets in the elevator with Stanley, who still refuses to talk. The elevator opens to the Slushy Shacks interior, where Reggie sees Todd wiping the blood on the floor. While getting bullied by Todd, Reggie confronts his mistakes. He does not consider himself a good person anymore. Then he walks up to Sarah, sitting on a bench, who is still mad at him. After that, he walks out and sees himself praying to get a better life.

While the new-Reggie regrets being turned into a monster, the old Reggie tells how ‘being a vampire’ has nothing to do with it. It had to do with his inhumane treatment of others. Reggie accepts that he kept blaming others for his sorrows in the past while not accepting how ‘being a vampire’ made him a better person. The new Reggie accepts this fact and prays again to be a better man.

Suddenly he finds himself back in the elevator with Stanley. While Stanley walks past the door, Reggie comes out when it opens. He sees Maurice but feels as if it is just a projection of his subconscious mind. So, he keeps questioning whether Maurice is real or not. Maurice puts Reggieโ€™s doubts to rest but expects him to return home. Since Reggie already missed his assessment test, Maurice does not want him to delay it any further. But Maurice insists that he is a terrible person and that no change can redeem him. Maurice comforts him by saying that he doesn’t need to be too hard on himself since nobodyโ€™s perfect.

By that time, the two get approached by several men in stereotypical vampire costumes. That’s when Reggie notices a bright light coming through the elevator. He looks at this situation as a conflict to be overcome and enters the elevator with Maurice. In short, he survives the leap of faith. Suddenly, the elevator gets dropped down to a room where the two notice Stanley almost stabbing Abraham (Danny Wattley). But they notice that they are at standstill, and Reggie considers it Abrahamโ€™s deed.

In Reggie’s opinion, โ€˜A heroโ€™ needs to pull the stake out of Abrahamโ€™s chest. Maurice tries it but fails. Then Reggie tries it and succeeds. So, Abraham comes back to life. Soon after, Reggie realizes that everything he witnessed during his fever dream was created specifically by Abraham. Then over drinks, Abraham calls Maurice and Reggie -Caine and Abel in the story where he is the god. Abraham says that God brought Vampires into the world to solve the problems of the endless cycle of resurrections.

However, in the end, he says that he cannot help Reggie become a human again. Reginald thinks that all his efforts were futile. But instead, through a further pep talk, Abraham makes Reggie realize that he is, in fact, a special kind of hero. The entire Odyssey teaches Reggie to embrace himself despite all his flaws and despite feeling different from the โ€˜normalโ€™ world. Reggie comes back to reality and decides to return home with Maurice.

Maurice tells Reggie to enter Slushy Shacks and be truthful with Sarah. But Sarah rejects Reggie due to his earlier attempts at deceiving her. Reggie learns that Todd is not dead and heaves a sigh of relief. However, he feels joyless since his thirst was not met for a long time. So, Reggie offers Todd his own arm to suck blood from. He then apologizes to Todd for not appreciating his friendship before. Meanwhile, Maurice meets Angela and learns that she is being transferred to another district to save Reggie and his friends.

Due to his attempts to embrace himself, Reggie decides to tell Sarah about his identity as a vampire. He explains all the strange incidents from her life, including the memory lapses, to be related to them. Unfortunately, it does not go well, and she calls him a liar. Nonetheless, she later goes to his place and confirms heโ€™s a vampire after looking at his fangs. She still hopes to be with him since he was remorseful. But, owing to his past experiences, he does not want them to get closer.

Soon after, Angela knocks on Reggieโ€™s door and offers him study material to help him prepare for the assessment. He considers it a threat, and Maurice considers that possibility as well. However, Maurice still wants Reggie to prepare as well as possible. By then, Mike has acquired Angelโ€™s blood, hoping to kill Angela. But Maurice brings him back to his senses and makes him realize that killing her wonโ€™t stop Reggieโ€™s assessment. Reggie, meanwhile, gets paranoid by the overwhelming stress of failing the test due to being unfit according to the beauty standards.

Still, Reggie invites Sarah, Ashley, Todd, Claire, and Mike to a gathering back in the Slushy Shacks. Todd approaches Maurice and asks him to turn himself into a vampire โ€“ so he can stay in the same shape for eternity. Maurice does not help him with it. While all of Reggieโ€™s well-wishers say farewell to him, the beacon of the council โ€“ Logan (Julian Richings), is hellbent on making Reggie feel terrified. While being miserable about how the test will turn out for him, Reggie gets approached by Todd. He asks Reggie to turn him into a vampire. Suddenly, Reggie thinks of a plan and takes Todd out to fulfill his wish. Before leaving, he tells Maurice that he has found a missing piece from his puzzle.

Soon after, Maurice finds Reggie on a bridge. While the two speak about the sire bond, LeBron and Penelope arrive there to hand over a warrant from the council. That is the first time Reggie learns LeBronโ€™s full name is LeBron James. So he keeps interrupting LeBron while he reads out the letter. He confesses that he kept blabbering on and on because of his performance anxiety.

Reginald and Maurice soon get taken to meet Loganโ€™s court. Logan goes on and on about the legacy and traditions of his council and The Assessment. Getting tired of this old, white, pompous man talking about the age-old (and dated) standards of beauty, Reggie starts insulting him. Besides, Reggie wants to get done with The Assessment for good. Logan says the more Reggie insults, the harsher his punishment becomes.

In a series of tests, Reggie keeps failing one after the other. Then he finally succeeds in a task that Mike had faithfully taught him about. Reggie goes on a passing streak, only to be met with the beauty test, where he does not pass the Golden Ratio of Beauty. While he calls out the obvious prejudice, Logan does not care one bit. In the end, when there are only two tests left, he is told to pass both in order to pass The Assessment. Reggie passes in the first due to his excessive knowledge of bees but fails in the last one. As a result, he is sentenced to torment and death.

Reggie still does not feel the least bit sad. Instead, he continues to insult Logan. So, Logan instructs a councilman to cut deeper through Reggieโ€™s body. Thatโ€™s when Todd is brought into the hall, saying he became a vampire because of Reggie. Reggie finally starts panicking and says that he considered Todd to be his saving grace. It looks like Angela made this happen. Anyhow, Todd is sentenced to get burnt by the sunbeams. The roof is made wide open, exposing him to the rays. However, he does not get burned.

Turns out, Reggie did not bite Todd after all. Angela did not plot against them either. Reggie suddenly takes a disco ball out of his cut-apart belly and pushes it toward Angela. She pushes it toward Todd, who reflects the sunbeam onto the vampires. The assessor (Ayisha Issa) rescues Reggie, who then starts killing the vampires by firing Angelโ€™s blood at them. Since every council member dies, including Logan, Maurice claims deaconship and pardons Reggie as his first task.

Reginald the Vampire (Season 1) Ending Explained:

How did Reggie save himself from The Assessment?

Reginald the Vampire (Season 1) Review, Recap, Ending, Explained, Themes Analyzed (3)

When Reggie left Slushy Shacks with Todd, he did not turn Todd into a vampire. Instead, he went to Angelaโ€™s house and asked for her help. Reggie, Maurice, Sarah, Ashley, Claire, and Todd โ€“ all gathered at Angelaโ€™s house and plotted an elaborate plan. Since Todd would have been a newly-turned vampire, he would have still had human blood in his body. So they figured Logan would not question Todd being a vampire.

Even outside, Nikki saved Sarah and Ashley from getting killed by the councilpersons. On the other hand, Claire saved herself with her superpowers. Turns out, Nikki did this favor to her and turned her into a vampire not long before the shit hit the fan.

Meanwhile, in the present, Eve tries to crawl away to save whatever life is left of her. Turns out, she was the only vampire who survived the attacks by Reggie and others inside the councilโ€™s establishment. Suddenly, she sees Uriel, one of the seven angels. But instead of helping her, Uriel says that he is there to eradicate a grave mistake they made and kills her with a blazing sword. He calls it as just the beginning.

In the Slushy Shack, lovers reunite, be it Sarah & Reggie or Ashley & Nikki. Besides them, a new possibility of romance emerges between Todd and Mike. Todd asks Mike if he can turn him into a vampire. While Mike does not grant his wish right away, he definitely agrees to do so in the future. In the heat of the moment, Todd ends up kissing Mike.

On the other hand, Sarah is not ready just yet to commit to Reginald. However, she accepts that there is a chance for their relationship, and Reginald is okay with being patient to be with her. After all, his final wish was to keep Sarah happy (or not to hurt her in any way).

Reginald the Vampire (Season 1) Themes Analysed:

Conventional beauty standards

Reginald the Vampire emphasizes how fat Reginald enters a world of tall, vain, and attractive vampires. His issues with obesity and appearance are explored throughout the season to make a point about this bigotry inside and outside the vampire community. These insecurities play a big part in why Reggie feels unfit and underserving of any love. On the other hand, through Toddโ€™s character, we witness how he fears he will never look as good as he does. His anxieties are also related to an ingrained thought that he would receive love only if he looked a certain way.

In the Vampire community, Reginald is met with contempt by all its members. They fit in the dated ideas of beauty, but he doesnโ€™t. So, despite having the superpowers to battle them on his own, Reginald faces their scorn just because he does not look the part. Besides being about this community and the world at large, the show also seems eager to comment on the fan community that expects vampires only to be vain & attractive creatures of the night.

The feeling of โ€˜Othernessโ€™

There is an ongoing undercurrent throughout the season of one or the other character feeling othered by society. Reggie feels it because of his weight and his appearance and, thus, feels alienated. Maurice and Angela were part of the Black Panther community and felt bigotry due to their racial identities. Sarah felt unfit in her Christian community and so decided to renounce its orthodox way of living.

Their hunger for justice led them to explore unconventional paths (unconventional to them).

Reginald the Vampire (Season 1) Review:

The first season is essentially about Reginald gaining confidence to face his life with a new spirit. The writing largely explores his mindscape to take us through his narrative of radical self-acceptance. Since Reginald and his journey is the sole focus, other characters often end up being two-dimensional. It feels odd when a narrative that criticizes conventions and stereotypes ends up bringing the same through its characters.

Sarah is yet another manic pixie girl character whose identity is largely about helping Reginald realize his potential. One may reason it by calling it Reginaldโ€™s fantasy, where he wants things to go a certain way in his life. Nevertheless, the stereotypes limit the series from being a memorable coming-of-age drama.

The reason why this new Hulu series still manages to engage is Jason Batalonโ€™s charm. Besides him, Emily Haine plays her conventional bubbly-girl character with so much buoyancy that you canโ€™t help but fall for her as Reggie does. Their performances, overall, make it a worthy watch, besides the self-aware comedy bits about the vampire fantasy universe.

Has Reginald the Vampire been renewed for Season 2?

The first season explored Jacob Batalonโ€™s Reginald navigating his way of being an unlikely vampire. He fought Logan and the council and came on the other side of The Assessment. However, in the end, we saw new villains in their story, and they are bound to create additional conflicts. So it will be interesting to see how Maurice and Reginald will figure out their way forward.

Luckily, thereโ€™s good news for the showโ€™s fans. Yes! As per the sources, Reginald the Vampire will be renewed for a second season. The new season has been green-lit by the Syfy channel.
