Running Point (Season 2) Recap:

What happens next in the latest season of Running Point?

Season 1 of Running Point begins with a major surprise. Cam Gordon returns early from rehab, even though his absence was the reason Isla became the president of the LA Waves in the first place. He tells everyone that he does not want his old job back and instead joins the team as a consultant. However, as the season moves forward, it becomes clear that Cam has not really changed and that his past behavior is still a problem. At the same time, Isla continues to run the team while dealing with her brothers, Sandy, Ness, and Jackie, along with chief of staff Ali Lee. It becomes clear early on that this season brings bigger challenges than before, as the team deals with financial problems, a strike by the LA Waves City Dancers, and a leadership gap after coach Jay Brown leaves. There is also tension in the locker room between Travis Bugg and Dyson Gibbs. On top of that, star player Marcus Winfield does not get along with the new coach, Norm. All of these problems make Isla’s job even harder.

Ali also starts to feel frustrated. She finally speaks up for herself and asks for a raise because she feels she is being taken for granted. After Cam takes over her office and forces her to work in a conference room, she becomes even more upset. She asks Isla for the raise, but Isla is too busy dealing with other issues, so the request is denied and then forgotten. Around this time, the Gordon family begins to suspect that the Toronto Raptors want to sign Dyson. Their general manager, Magnus, comes to town, and everyone thinks he is there to recruit Dyson. However, it turns out that Magnus is actually interested in Ali. He offers her a better position with more money in Canada. Isla feels hurt and sees this as a betrayal, which leads to a serious argument between her and Ali. Later, Isla travels to Toronto and manages to convince Ali to come back, even if it is only for one night.

Is Cam really sober?

Another big issue comes from the LA Waves City Dancers. They are unhappy with how they are treated, including poor facilities, low pay, and bad working conditions. Led by Sofia, they decide to go on strike and announce it on TikTok. Their post quickly goes viral and gets a lot of attention. A lawyer named Diane Robichaux steps in to help both sides reach an agreement. As part of the deal, the dancers ask Isla to join them for a performance. Isla agrees and dances with them, which turns into a fun and memorable moment. Meanwhile, Cam creates even bigger problems. He secretly takes two million dollars from the team to pay the rehab center so he can leave early. He calls it a loan, but it is actually a fraudulent payment. The team’s financial officer does not know about it until their accountant, Aruna, discovers the issue. Sandy confronts Cam, but Cam manages to gain his sympathy and avoid serious consequences at that moment. Later, Cam uses money from a wealthy man named Al to pay the team back. In return, he gives Al special seats at games. Aruna agrees to stay quiet about the situation unless someone directly asks her about it.

Despite leaving rehab, Cam is not actually sober. He starts using drugs again almost immediately. He even has a sponsor, Leroy, who also uses drugs. When Isla confronts Cam, he promises to try to stay sober and remain part of the team, but his actions do not match his words. Cam also has bigger plans. Even though he said he did not want to be president again, he secretly tries to take back control of the team. When Isla hires Norm as the new coach instead of Danny Pierce, Cam admits that he was trying to sabotage her decision to make her look bad. His behavior becomes worse as he continues to use drugs.

What happened between Isla and Lev?

As the season moves ahead with the story, Al buys a large portion of the team by purchasing shares from Stephen Ramirez and other board members. With Al owning 40 percent and Cam holding 12 percent, they gain control of the board. This allows Cam to return as president of the LA Waves. At this point, Isla refuses to give up easily. She tries to find ways to keep her position but struggles at first. She even considers making deals behind her brother’s back. In the end, Jackie comes up with a different solution. He records Cam admitting that he has been using Jackie’s urine to pass drug tests because he relapsed. Sandy shares this information with the board, which leads to a major change. Cam loses his shares in the team, and they are redistributed among the siblings. He is removed from the organization, and Isla keeps her position as president.

In her personal life, Isla also faces important changes. At the beginning of the season, we see that Lev takes her back, and they try to fix their relationship. They stay together until the night of their rehearsal dinner. At that moment, Isla realizes that her commitment to the team is more important to her than the relationship. She decides to end things with Lev for good. After that, Isla starts to explore her life again. She has some light romantic moments with others, including Luke McShay, but she keeps thinking about her connection with Jay. Jay had moved to Boston earlier, but when they meet again, they start spending time together.

Running Point (Season 2) Ending Explained:

Does Isla stay with Lev or go with Jay?

At one point, Isla makes a comment that references How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The show also includes visual references, like her wearing an outfit similar to one from that film. As the season moves toward its ending, the LA Waves perform well and make it to the finals. They face their biggest rival, Boston. During the championship, Marcus gets injured, and the team starts to struggle. Isla and Ali adjust their strategy based on what worked against Boston earlier in the playoffs. Marcus later returns after receiving treatment and is able to play again. In the final moments of the game, he makes an important three-point shot, and the LA Waves win the championship.

After the celebration, the team wakes up the next day and sees shocking news. Cam has partnered with Al to bring back a former team called the LA Industry. He announces that this new team will compete in Los Angeles and aims to become the best in the city. The ending of Running Point (Season 2) comes with the final surprise when it is revealed that Jay has joined Cam’s new team as their head coach. This creates a new problem for Isla in both her work and personal life, and sets up what comes next, as the finale leaves the story open for a possible Season 3, although nothing has been officially announced yet.
