The Worst of Evil (Season 1), Episode 8 Recap:
The episode begins with Professor Yoon in China talking to the Chinese traders. She learns Gi-cheul was selling drugs in Korea without sending everything to Japan. They tell her that he has to pay for what he has done. Hae-ryeon meets with Jaegon Group’s Ki-soo to discuss dealing with him instead of Gi-cheul. They offer to pay her more than Gi-cheul for the same drugs. But she refused as she was ill-treated, and they disrespected her.
Jun-mo is terrified because of the informer’s death. He informed his colleagues of the issue they were facing. Gi-cheul tries to reach the informer but does not get in touch. He was later informed that the informer had died from falling off a building, which was an accident. Jun-mo informs Gi-cheul that the next day, he is meeting Hae-ryeon. Gi-cheul seems to get suspicious of Jun-mo and Eui-jeong. Gi-cheul asks Jun-mo why he is more interested in the drug trade than him, and Jun-mo tells him that, as he had mentioned earlier, he wants to be successful.
Eui-jeong learned what had happened with the informer and decided to be more in touch with Gi-cheul. She calls and asks to meet him as he thinks he has much to say, and she thinks only about herself. The next day, Gi-cheul gives Jun-mo a nice suit and tells him he is having a guest over and is cleaning up the place. Gi-cheul is constantly thinking about Jungbae’s words about him hanging out with a cop.
Eui-jeong comes prepared with a gun in case something goes wrong. Eui-jeong arrives at the office, and at the same time, Hae-ryeon arrives and calls it a date. Gi-cheul shows her around the office and shows her where Jun-mo lives. Gi-cheul secretly sends Yong-dae to get information that the informant had failed to deliver. Jun-mo and Hae-ryeon spend the day playing Korean childhood games and learning about each other’s lives.
Yong-dae calls Gi-cheul and informs him that no phone was found on the informant and tells him that Eui-jeong’s father worked in Wonju. Gi-cheul asks Eui-jeong if she ever lived in Wonju, and she tells him that her father worked there and she would travel to and fro from Seoul to Wonju. He tells her that Seung-ho had told him that she had moved in middle school to Seoul, but everyone in the church remembers her from elementary school. She asks him if this somehow changed their relationship. He asks her to turn around and puts a necklace on her.
Do-hyung thanks the receptionist for giving Yong-dae a fake document, and Yong-dae returns to find Do-hyung. Do-hyung hides his face and leaves. He asks the receptionist if he is her boyfriend, and she denies it and gives her a bouquet. Min-goo also learns about the informant’s death and visits the death scene. He finds a lighter and keeps it as he has some suspicions about it. Jong-ryul and Hee-sung follow Oyama and get to know that they are visiting the rival gang.
Meanwhile, Eui-jeong, to win Gi-cheul’s trust, tells him that she has done a background check on him, and despite all that, she has to trust him because she loves him. They end up kissing. He takes her to the office, introduces her to the boys, and tells them she will be his future wife. At the same time, Hae-ryeon forces Jun-mo to sleep with her but is interrupted by her bodyguard to inform her that the rival gang will take out Gi-cheul. Hae-ryeon informs this to Jun-mo.
He then tries to call Gi-cheul but is between his date and does not answer. He then calls Jong-ryul and informs him about the situation, and at that time, Jaegon Group’s men arrive to kill Gi-cheul. Gi-cheul asks Eui-jeong to trust him despite what she sees that day. The boys are fighting while Jun-mo is on his way to the office.
The Worst of Evil (Season 1), Episode 9 Recap:
The episode begins with Jun-mo remembering his wedding day when his father ruined his happy day by asking him for money for drugs. Eui-jeong’s family was judgemental about it, which was humiliating for Jun-mo. Jun-mo shows up at the office and starts to kill Jaegon Group thugs. He sees Eui-jeong there, and both look at each other amidst the chaos.
Gi-cheul tries to protect Eui-jeong, but Jun-mo is killing everyone fiercely. Eui-jeong watches Jun-mo while Gi-cheul tries to treat her wounds. Once things settle down, Hae-ryeon shows up and tells them that this was the first time she disobeyed her father and asks Gi-cheul to prove her decision to be right. Oyama waits with Ki-soo and his men for good news about Gi-cheul’s death. Just then, Gi-cheul and his men show up. Jun-mo puts Ki-soo on the table and cuts his ankle. Gi-cheul asks Oyama to bring Kanemoto to his office and make him apologize for everything he has done.
Do-hyung tries to console Eui-jeong, but she is shaken and returns home. She receives two voice messages, one from Gi-cheul apologizing to her and promising her something like this would never happen and the other from Jun-mo apologizing for what she saw and requesting her to back off from the investigation. Hee-sung is saddened as he remembers Gi-cheul had left him to die and paid attention to Eui-jeong.
Gi-cheul takes Jun-mo home for food, and they go to bed at his mother’s house. Gi-cheul tells Jun-mo that Eui-jeong is with him and he needn’t worry. That night, Jun-mo cannot sleep because of the information he received and meets Gi-cheul’s younger sister. She asks him to care for her brother and ensure he does not get stabbed.
The next day, Chang-sik meets the commissioner of police and asks him to keep the gang war low so it does not disturb their investigation. Gi-cheul and his men discuss the drug trade, and the Chinese ask for more drugs. Jun-mo wants to calm the Japanese and asks Gi-cheul to meet Oyama in private and sort the matter out. Meanwhile, Min-goo shows up at the office and tells Gi-cheul that he thought he had something to do with the informant’s death.
On his way out, Min-goo meets Jun-mo and gives him the lighter he found at the crime scene. Jun-mo thanks him, but it wasn’t his. Min-goo tells him it is too late for that, and he isn’t interested in catching small fish like him and asks him to bring the Yankees to him, so he wouldn’t tell Gi-cheul he had killed his informant. Eui-jeong and Gi-cheul meet, and Gi-cheul promises that once he has things sorted, nobody will call him a thug, and he can be proud to stand in front of her family.
Jun-mo meets Oyama and apologizes to him. He brings him to the office and Gi-cheul and Oyama talk. Meanwhile, Min-goo meets Dodgers in the prison, gets him out, and tortures him until he gives him information about the Yankees. He tells Min-goo they weren’t in touch as the Yankees had knocked up a girl and had taken a lot of money. He leads the way and shows him the girl’s house, but nobody is there. Min-goo is taking out his frustration on the Dodgers.
Oyama brings Kanemoto to Gi-cheul’s office, and Gi-cheul asks him to apologize. He is rude to Kanemoto. Kanemoto loses his cool when Gi-cheul tells him that he wants to increase the price of the drugs by 30%. Kanemoto leaves and disrespects Oyama. Jun-mo wants to fix this quickly and meets Hae-ryeon, and they decide not to depend on her father or Gi-cheul and take the initiative to sort this issue.
