Within his 9 year career in the Malayalam film industry, Lijo Jose Pellissery has created quite a name for himself. Since the release of widely acclaimed ‘Angamaly Diaries’, he has gathered a huge fanbase, not just in India but in terms of global audiences. Even his previous release- ‘Ee. Ma. Yau.’ became a part of several best-of-the-year lists. Lijo’s latest offering ‘Jallikattu’ has garnered wide acclaim since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. And the latest Jallikattu trailer is enough to get his admirers pumped up for the release.

Antony Varghese (Angamaly Diaries) is playing one of the leads. Apart from him, Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhy Balachandran, and Sabumon Abdusamad are part of the cast. The wide and violent frames from the trailer take us through the mystical lands of Kerala.

Although the film’s title- Jallikattu gives away the central premise of the film, no plot is revealed within the clip. We’re just hinted towards the violent scenes with very little closure to their faces. All the hysteria is cleverly achieved with its haunting score and stills, which constantly keeps us a foot away from experiencing the actual terror. Because the actual terror awaits us on the big screens.

The screenplay of Jallikattu is written by S Hareesh and R Jayakumar. Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, who has earlier worked on Lijo’s Angamaly Diaries, is collaborating again with the same eccentricity. The evident visuals from the trailer are clearly the highlight within the three minutes. It showcases the horror of their situation with the precise lighting in the darkness. The other thing that amps up the excitement for Jallikattu is the sound design by Renganaath Ravee. Besides that, Prashant Pillai is yet again ready to prove his expertise with the Original Score, who has earlier breathed soul in Lijo’s Amen, Angamaly Diaries & Double Barrel.

‘Jallikattu’ has its World Premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It was also a part of this year’s Fantastic Fest. The film is set to release on October 4 in the theatres all over India.
