A bold gamble, that’s what Guhan Senniappan took with Weapon. In a cinematic landscape saturated with superhuman exploits, he dared to cast the iconic Sathyaraj as Mithran, an ordinary man with extraordinary abilities. While the concept might seem like a misstep in an era of endless spectacle, the film’s intricate plot twists promise a heart-pounding ride.
The stage is set in the rustic backdrop of Theni. A YouTuber, driven by the allure of the sensational, ventures into the unknown to capture a rumored individual with supernatural powers. A fateful explosion transforms the curious filmmaker into a prime suspect, thrusting him into the cold grip of the law. When standard interrogation tactics yield nothing, a shadowy figure emerges: Agent X. A master of his craft, he is the last hope to unravel the mystery. But who is he truly, and can he pierce the veil of deception?

Weapon (2024) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:
Amidst the deep forest areas in Theni, a huge blast takes place near Neutrino Research Center. A figure plummets into the river as if ejected from the sky with violent force. Later, the NSG Commandos take the person in custody and start accusing him of the blast. That man, Agni, tells them again and again that he is merely a YouTuber. He went to Theni only to pursue a superhuman. However, no one seems to believe in his story. When the NSG finds that it is not possible to get the information out of Agni, the head of NSG, Ravirajan, decides to bring in Agent X, a specialist in this case.
Agent X is known for his special ability to get to the bottom of the truth. No one knows how he looks or where he lives. Agni’s rehearsed tale was a broken record, playing on a loop. A glimmer of suspicion ignites in Agent X’s mind. Agni’s fervent environmentalism, he mused, could be a smokescreen for something more sinister. Perhaps this was a twisted crusade, an eco-terrorist mission to safeguard forests and wildlife at any cost. He even reminds Agni of the time when he received the best YouTuber award from another environmentalist, Mr. Sivaraj, who was found dead later that night. Agent X tries to make Agni responsible for Sivaraj’s murder as well.
How does Agent X Learn about the Black Society?
While interrogating Agni, Agent X learns that there is an important clue that he needs to see for himself. He later meets with Mr. Omkar, a scientist cum director of Flawless Medical Research Center. Omkar is known for his extraordinary contribution to the field of medical science, as the medicine he has approved has changed the lives of millions of physically challenged people. But Omkar’s sudden appeal for protection sets off alarm bells. It’s a strange twist. Who would want to harm a seemingly ordinary guy like Omkar?
Subsequently, Omkar talks about Black Society, although no one has actually witnessed its presence. According to Omkar, the head of the Black Society, Dev Krishnav, has forced everyone in Flawless to kill innocent children so that they can perfect their drug. The story gets darker when Omkar says that people were drugged to conceive physically challenged kids so that their drugs could be sold in larger amounts. Now, Dev Krishna asks all the remaining 8 members of the Black Society to join in a meeting where they will be discussing Sivaraj’s death.
What is the Origin of this Mysterious Super Human?
Agni has already told Agent X about the mysterious clip they found online where a boy is saved from a sure-shot hit by a truck. In the clip, it is clearly visible that the boy was thrown by someone so that he could be saved. However, the striking thing is that there is no one in the video. It is like the wind has thrown the boy away from the road. This makes Agni and his team go to Theni to locate the superhuman. When Avantika, Agni’s girlfriend and Dev Krishnav’s daughter, finally has the chance to see him, she sees him as a monster rather than a superhero kind.
Initially, Agent X thinks this is all false news. But when Omkar tells him that he has been looking for this man for more than 30 years, he starts believing. The original story, however, dates back to the time of the Second World War, when Netaji met Hitler to make an alliance with Germany so that India could stand against the British Empire. However, when Hitler offers a serum that can turn normal human beings into super-soldiers, Netaji fears that this serum could become a grave problem in the future. So, he rejected the idea and decided to come back.
However, one of Netaji’s men, Chezhian, thought the serum would satisfy what Netaji had envisioned. Once freedom was achieved, Chezhian hid the serum in a secret place. Later, when Hitler’s men came to India and attacked Chezhian and his boy, he was shot in the shoulder. The boy suffered a near-death experience. But, before death befell his boy, Chezhian injected the serum into him before dying, which made Mithran, his son, a superhuman. From that time onward, no one really had any clue about what happened to Mithran and where the serum was.
Does Agni possess any Superpowers?
After learning the whole story, Agent X gets back to Avantika. She is being interrogated about what might have happened in Theni. Avantika reveals that they were confronted by a group of four assassins (sent by Omkar to get hold of the superhuman) while they were roaming around in Theni. They were carrying a tracking device that would beep whenever they were close to a superhuman. In fact, they were following Mithran with that device. However, since Mithran is very clever and powerful, he is able to manipulate the device. Anyway, they were lost. Right then, they interact with Agni, Avantika, and their friend Siddharth.
The tracker suddenly starts beeping when it comes closer to Agni, which confuses even Avantika and Siddharth. Soon, Agni’s real identity is revealed as he ruthlessly kills all the assassins. Amidst the shootout, Siddharth is killed. Agni asks Avantika to leave. When she tries to stop him, his rage is clearly seen, which makes her fear the monster within Agni. Back in the interrogation room, Agni is tired of being questioned constantly. He starts attacking the NSG officers when Agent X suddenly shows him Agni’s mother’s picture to calm him down. Agni starts wondering where Agent X could have got hold of that image.

How is Agni Connected to Mithran?
While all of this is going on, Solomon, Dev Krishnav’s hired assassin, is sent to kill Mithran. Solomon has possession of a particular gas that will disable Mithran’s powers momentarily. He is also equipped with a special kind of weapon that will help him go past Mithran’s indestructible skin layer. Solomon becomes a tough enemy to Mithran. He finds it very difficult to defeat him during the face-off. But luckily, Agni arrives at that point. He throws Solomon inside Mithran’s house. Later, it is revealed that Agni is Mithran’s son as we learn how the father and son were forced to live separately.
Mithran says that right after his father, Chezhian, gave him the serum, he started to turn into a monster. It was Parvathi, Agni’s mother, who helped him become a calmer and more composed man. Soon after, they got married. They had two kids. One day, Hitler’s army again attacked their house to get hold of the serum. They burned down the house as Mithran was successful in getting Agni out. Unfortunately, Parvathi and their older son died in the fire. Later, when Mithran was hit by a rocket, he lost Agni in the foothills. After fighting the army, he came back to look for him, but he was never found.
What does Mithran learn about Agni?
Agni is about to leave. He asks for a family photo for the memories and shares the idea of visiting Mithran once in a while. Before leaving, Mithran wishes to hug Agni. Right after touching his head, Mithran is able to get access to his mind, where he sees Agni turning into a monster, as he is the one who killed all the members of the Black Society. Mithran knows that Agni’s intentions lie in the benefit of nature. But the path he has taken will only cause destruction. Mithran knows that Agni’s rage will not stop at the Black Society. He will destroy everyone who harms nature in any way.
Mithran, too, is a nature lover. After being detached from the family, he finds solace in loving animals and staying inside the forest. Even when Solomon had killed a baby elephant along with a kid that Mithran adored, he became very angry. However, Mithran also believes that nature does not need healing because it will eventually heal itself. When he says this to Agni, he fights back. A huge fight takes place between the father and the son, which ends when Dev Krishnav sends his bugs. These bugs are basically microbots that have bombs inside them. Dev Krishnav has already witnessed everything through Solomon’s camera before he is thrown.
So, finally, Dev Krishnav sends too many microbots to cover Mithran and Agni. The bots blast together, throwing Agni into the river. This leads to his arrest. Back in the interrogation room, Dev Krishnav arrives with the gas that makes Agni powerless. When he is about to shoot him dead with a special bullet built to kill superhumans, another twist takes place. Agent X removes his mask. It turns out that he is Agni’s older brother, who looks exactly the same. He stops Dev Krishnav from harming Agni as he turns the whole place into ice and stabs Dev Krishnav with an ice sword.
Will there be a Weapon (2024) Movie Sequel?
“Weapon” definitely shows the possibility of a sequel. In the mid-credit scene, we realize that Dev Krishnav, who was killed by Agent X, was a clone. The real Dev Krishnav, on the other hand, has somehow managed to recover Solomon’s remains and turn him into a cyborg-like machine. We even see him (or probably a different robot because this one was wearing a mask) go to Mithran, who is unharmed by the blast. They get ready for a face-off.
Now, you must be wondering how Agni’s older brother survived the fire, right? As flames consumed their home, Mithran believed he’d lost everything – his wife, Parvathi, and their elder son. In that heart-wrenching moment, Agni’s brother was born anew with extraordinary abilities. Since he was Mithran’s son, there is a possibility that he was born with these powers. They came to light at just the right moment. Later, he even saved Parvathi and started looking for Agni and Mithran. He failed to locate them until now. Perhaps, in the sequel, we will see the family reunite. Together, they might fight against Dev Krishnav and his army of robots.
