The Art of Sarah (Original title: Reidi Dua) is a 2026 South Korean mystery thriller series that’s been trending on Netflix for the past two weeks. It follows Sarah Kim, a woman who builds a luxury fashion empire and a fake high-society identity, only for her life to fall apart when a body believed to be hers is found in a Seoul sewer. Detective Park Mu-gyeong takes on the case and soon realises something about Sarah’s story does not add up. The show explores how people use the art of deception and build a whole new personality around themselves to achieve their idea of ambition, completely neglecting the people who are directly or indirectly connected to them.

In this article, I will take a deep dive into the entire plotline of the series, explaining in detail what happens at the end of The Art of Sarah. Please note that this article contains spoilers, so reader discretion is advised.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 1 ‘Jane Doe’ Recap:

Who is Sarah Kim?

Episode 1 opens at the launch party for Boudoir’s 2024 Spring/Summer collection. Sarah Kim, the regional head of the brand, speaks about truth and lies. A few days later, a customer finds a dead body in the sewers. The woman looks like Sarah and is wearing the same outfit from the launch party. Her face is badly damaged, and the police believe she froze to death. She has a purple luxury bag, a partial print, and a foot tattoo that reads “melancolie splendide.”

Detective Hyeon Jae-hyeon joins the case, which annoys his team leader, Park Mu-gyeong. They learn that the purple bag was a gift from Jeong Yeo-jin, the CEO of Nox, to her close friend Sarah. When Yeo-jin sees the body, she identifies it through the tattoo and shares how their friendship began. In the past, Sarah entered a department store with a suitcase full of cash and bought everything she touched. Yeo-jin noticed her confidence. Later, after a tense moment involving Chairman Choi Chae-u and a red Birkin bag, Sarah gave the bag to Yeo-jin as an apology. They became close, moved in together, and built a strong bond. Sarah taught Yeo-jin how to present herself and think strategically in business.

Their partnership grew when Yeo-jin invested 15 billion won into Boudoir. At first, returns were strong, but no more money came after the first dividend. Yeo-jin later found out the red Birkin was fake and threw it into a river. In the present, Mu-gyeong doubts Yeo-jin’s story, especially after CCTV shows her spitting on the body. Financial crimes investigators reveal her aide was arrested for kidnapping and assault, claiming Yeo-jin wanted her investment back. New footage shows a sales associate named Woo Hyo-eun being attacked. She looks exactly like Sarah. Mu-gyeong realizes she may have faked a broken leg and taken on a new identity. The episode ends with the shocking discovery that there is no record of any Sarah Kim from the United States.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 2 ‘Sarah Kim’ Recap:

What happened between Hyo-eun and Sarah?

Episode 2 begins with Min Byeong-kwan sharing his side of the story with rookie cop Jae-hyeon. In flashbacks, we see that Yeo-jin hired him to scare Sarah into returning the 15 billion won. Byeong-kwan roughs her up, and Sarah takes him to the Boudoir store, letting him take bags as collateral until she pays him back. While he and his men are distracted, Sarah suddenly shuts the store shutters and calls the police. She provokes Byeong-kwan into hitting her in the face and loudly begs for her life so it is all caught on CCTV. Using the footage and her injuries, she sues him and sends him to prison. But in court, she introduces herself as Woo Hyo-eun, not Sarah Kim. Byeong-kwan later finds out that Woo Hyo-eun is actually the name of her former employee.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026)

Yeo-jin’s alibi checks out because she was already under surveillance due to Byeong-kwan’s case. The police now suspect that Sarah may have scammed someone else, and that person killed her. Jae-hyeon discovers an old social media review from five years ago by an account called @Cheongdam Goddess that helped build Boudoir’s reputation. But Boudoir only launched in South Korea last summer. To investigate further, Jae-hyeon approaches the real Woo Hyo-eun, who now runs a department store lining service. While waiting in line overnight, he pretends to be a Boudoir fan to get her talking. She becomes upset and shares her story.

In the past, Hyo-eun worked at the store where Sarah bought Birkin bags. Sarah gained her trust and later hired her at Boudoir. Hyo-eun helped build the brand’s exclusivity by bringing in VIP clients and turning others away, but she never received commission. She also witnessed Sarah manipulating Chairman Choi to secure his loyalty. Over time, Hyo-eun grew suspicious of Sarah, especially after seeing unreleased designs in the fake market and being insulted by her. Rumors later claimed Hyo-eun betrayed Sarah and was blacklisted. She once caused a scene at the launch party, along with Yang Da-hye, the woman who found the body. In the present, Da-hye recalls meeting Sarah five years ago under the name Mok Ga-hui. The episode ends with Sarah shown in a sales associate uniform wearing a name tag that reads Mok Ga-hui.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 3 ‘Mok Ga-hui’ Recap:

Who is Mok Ga-hui?

Episode 3 begins with Yang Da-hye telling Jae-hyeon how she first met Sarah, who was then known as Mok Ga-hui, in 2018 at a family sale at Samwol Department Store. Ga-hui worked there at the time. In the flashback, Ga-hui cuts in line and argues with Da-hye after Da-hye accidentally takes her photo. The only photo left from that day shows Ga-hui’s leg, and her tattoo is visible. Meanwhile, Mu-gyeong traces the sewer route and finds it connects to the trash chute of Samwol Department Store, which is owned by Chairman Choi. He questions her, but she refuses to cooperate. She admits she once signed a contract to bring Boudoir into her store but later canceled it and fired the employee who supported it. This suggests she knew Sarah was a fraud.

An officer remembers Mok Ga-hui from an old cybercrime case. Under the name @Cheongdam Goddess, she sold second-hand luxury goods online and disappeared after receiving payments. She scammed buyers out of 500 million won. Five years ago, she supposedly died by suicide to escape loan sharks. Security footage shows her jumping into a reservoir with a silver purse. Her body was never found, but a suicide note was left behind. Mu-gyeong secretly takes the note and reads it with Jae-hyeon. The letter reveals Ga-hui’s past. She worked as a sales associate and was treated badly. After a robbery during her shift, she was forced to cover a 50 million won loss. She began smoking to get breaks and tattooed over a scar from a violent customer.

She later discovered she could make money by buying discounted items at family sales and reselling them online as a fake influencer. At first, she paid off her debts. Then she became greedy, using stolen employee IDs and loans to buy more stock. When the store limited purchases, loan sharks began threatening her. While hiding from them, she fell into the trash chute. She was demoted and later stole a silver purse before writing her suicide letter and withdrawing the 500 million won. Records show @Cheongdam Goddess posted about Boudoir the day after her death. As Mu-gyeong drains the reservoir hoping to find the silver purse, they instead discover a human skull at the bottom.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 4 ‘Kim Eun-jae’ Recap:

What do the police find from Hong Seong-sin?

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026)

Episode 4 begins with the police searching the drained reservoir. They recover a male skeleton believed to be in his 20s or 30s. Fearing it might be Ji-hwon, they rush to his apartment. They find the place in chaos, but Ji-hwon is alive. He is shaken, has scratches on his hand, and suddenly confesses that he killed Sarah. He then tells his story. Years earlier, while working as an escort, Ji-hwon met a woman named Kim Eun-jae, another fake name used by Sarah. She was married to Hong Seong-sin, a powerful loan shark, and claimed he abused her. She often asked Ji-hwon to take her out late at night, saying she was starving at home. She gifted him her husband’s watch and made him feel important.

When he noticed needle marks on her arm, he believed Seong-sin was drugging her. Wanting to save her and clear his own debts, Ji-hwon planned to kill Seong-sin so Eun-jae could inherit his wealth. But during the attack, he accidentally stabbed Eun-jae instead. She told him to run. Years later, she contacted him again as Sarah Kim. She asked him to seduce Chairman Choi and promised him marriage, a job at Boudoir, and an apartment. He later discovered her workshop where fake Boudoir bags were made. Feeling trapped, he told Seong-sin everything, believing this led to Sarah’s death.

Mu-gyeong doubts his version, sensing he shaped the story to avoid blame. The police then question Hong Seong-sin. Seong-sin reveals he needed a kidney transplant and no donor would help him. Sarah, then using the name Du-a, offered to donate in exchange for 500 million won. They entered a fake marriage to qualify for the transplant. During that year, he helped create her Eun-jae identity and taught her how to move in high society. The needle marks were from medical tests. On the transplant day, she ran away after being recognized by a loan shark from her past. His men caught her, but Seong-sin stopped them. She eventually went through with the transplant and later left with his money. In the present, Mu-gyeong notices there is no transplant scar on the dead body. That means Sarah is alive. He orders a nationwide search, but Sarah is already waiting at the precinct.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 5 ‘Boudoir’ Recap:

Can Mu-gyeong Prove Sarah’s Guilt?

Episode 5 begins with someone repaying the full 15 billion won that Yeo-jin had embezzled and invested in Boudoir. The Financial Crimes Unit leader blames Mu-gyeong for not freezing Boudoir’s account and even hints at bribery. Mu-gyeong ignores the accusation. He believes the transaction records are enough to name Sarah as a fraud suspect and decides to take the case public. The Chief warns him to be careful. At the press conference, things fall apart. Before Mu-gyeong can reveal Sarah’s identity, she walks in on her own and surrenders.

During questioning, Sarah stays calm. She argues there is no proof she is Mok Ga-hui. Then she shifts her tone and says she only wanted to build a real luxury brand. Flashbacks show her time as Du-a, when another escort advised her to use a wealthy client to fund her dreams. She met Seong-sin, who dressed her in fake jewels that looked real because of his status. With his help, she played the role of a rich, Oxford-educated woman and entered elite circles. That is also where she met Ji-hwon. She insists that pretending to be wealthy is not illegal. She claims she repaid Yeo-jin because she always planned to turn Boudoir into a real business. She explains that while her bags were cheaply made in Seoul, the handles were produced in England, allowing her to label them “Made in England.” She says luxury is about image and exclusivity.

The officers are surprised at how she avoids direct fraud charges. She denies ever claiming Boudoir was 100 years old, saying others spread those stories. She even admits to creating fake Boudoir bags herself, arguing that copy products prove success and are not illegal if she owns the brand. Mu-gyeong arranges a joint interrogation with Yeo-jin, who has been arrested. Realizing the case against Sarah is weak, Yeo-jin protects her. Without solid evidence, the police release both women. Later, Mu-gyeong reviews the tapes and notices Sarah mentioned freezing to death, a detail never made public. He arrests her for killing the unidentified woman. Sarah stays composed and reminds him he has 48 hours to secure a warrant, or she walks free.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 6 ‘Unregistered Person’ Recap:

Is Chairman Choi Telling the Truth?

Episode 6 opens with Mu-gyeong pushing hard to get a confession from Sarah. He tries to turn her own tactics against her and challenges her to prove she is not the killer. She calmly agrees to a DNA test. The results show no match with the database or the partial print from the crime scene. Mu-gyeong realizes she agreed because she already knew it would not match. With no breakthrough, the Chief replaces Mu-gyeong with Inspector Lee and accuses him of being too personally involved. But Sarah refuses to speak to anyone except Mu-gyeong. She tells him that people like them always have to fight harder than those born with status. Mu-gyeong does not trust her words. She warns him that con artists often fool people who believe they are too smart to be tricked.

Sarah then shares her timeline. After the launch party, she visited Samwol Department Store to check on the Boudoir shop under construction. She checked into a nearby hotel at 10 a.m. and stayed there until she turned herself in. Jae-hyeon discovers that Samwol had been building the Boudoir store until recently, but it has now been torn down and all CCTV footage deleted. This means Chairman Choi lied about canceling the contract long ago. Mu-gyeong confronts Chairman Choi at a private party but is denied entry. Jae-hyeon gets in easily because his father, an assemblyman, is present. During questioning, Mu-gyeong accuses Choi of destroying evidence. She reveals the red Birkin was ordered for her, not Sarah. She admits deleting footage to protect her store after seeing Sarah drag a suitcase with a body toward the trash chute.

Both secretly record their conversation but later destroy their phones and agree to cooperate. Flashbacks show how Sarah manipulated her way into Samwol. She used Ji-hwon to get close to Choi and staged situations to make Boudoir seem desirable. Choi eventually pushed for the Boudoir store without proper evaluation after the grand launch party. At the party venue, police find signs of violence. The designer confirms Sarah ordered two identical dresses. DNA on sewing pins matches Jane Doe, but not the crime scene blood or print. Mu-gyeong realizes Sarah chose him carefully to continue her plan.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 7 ‘Kim Mi-jeong’ Recap:

Did Mi-jeong Kill Sarah?

Episode 7 opens with Mu-gyeong learning that the prosecutor assigned to the case is one of Sarah’s clients. A warrant is unlikely. While searching for other leads, the police find a taxi receipt that shows the victim traveled from the launch party to the Boudoir workshop. They also discover that an immigration raid happened there ten days earlier. Mu-gyeong notices a nearby leather worker has callouses similar to Jane Doe’s. This suggests the victim was a workshop employee, but the other workers have already been deported, so no one can confirm her identity. During interrogation, Mu-gyeong asks the woman in front of him whether she is Sarah or the impostor who killed her. He presents his theory. According to him, the impostor discovered Sarah’s fake identity and began using it, knowing Sarah could not report her. She planned to kill Sarah and take her place, but Sarah killed her first. The accusations shake her, though she tries to remain calm.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026)

She finally breaks when Mu-gyeong threatens to destroy Boudoir’s reputation. He says he can start rumors and expose the brand as a scam. Fearing everything she built will collapse, she decides to confess. Flashbacks reveal Boudoir’s true beginning. Sarah partnered with Kim Mi-jeong, a skilled worker who made high-quality knockoffs. Together, they sourced better materials and built the brand. Sarah recruited the entire workshop and treated the workers well, becoming especially close to Mi-jeong.

One day, Sarah sent Mi-jeong to a dress fitting at Morphe for the launch party. Mi-jeong enjoyed the attention and the feeling of status. Since she was unregistered, Sarah bought her a phone and even offered to lend her identity if needed. Over time, Mi-jeong secretly used Sarah’s card for shopping. When the bank flagged the charges, she was arrested, but Sarah refused to press charges. Mi-jeong grew resentful. She copied Sarah’s mannerisms, got the same tattoo, and began living as Sarah Kim. After being fired, she exposed Boudoir as fake, had the workers deported, and erased evidence from the workshop. She wore the second launch dress and appeared at the party. In the present, she admits she killed Jane Doe. Then she reveals the truth. She is Kim Mi-jeong. The dead body was the real Sarah.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 8 ‘The Art of Sarah’ Recap:

Episode 8 opens with Sarah burning leftover Boudoir stock from past seasons and crying. In the present, she now claims she is Mi-jeong and says she feels no guilt for killing Sarah. She insists Sarah deserved it and that no one truly cared about her. The police think she is lying to protect Boudoir. If Sarah Kim is officially the murder victim, the fraud case against the brand could collapse. Sarah even calls Yeo-jin and tells her that with Sarah dead, Boudoir will belong to Nox. Mu-gyeong looks for proof. Hospitals keep tissue samples from organ donors, so he sends Jae-hyeon to compare Sarah’s old transplant sample with the woman in custody.

The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) Episode 8 ‘The Art of Sarah’ Ending Explained:

Will Sarah Ever Reveal Herself?

Sarah then describes what happened on the launch night, though Mu-gyeong has already figured most of it out. It was snowing. Many guests disliked her. Yeo-jin pressured her about the money. Chairman Choi arrived with Ji-hwon. He confronted Sarah, angry that Ji-hwon had revealed their earlier plan. As revenge, Choi forced Sarah into a harsh contract. Outside, Da-hye and Hyo-eun caused trouble. Inside, Sarah finally saw Mi-jeong. She dragged her into a private office where they fought. Sarah overpowered her and smashed her face. She hid Mi-jeong in a suitcase and sent it to Samwol Department Store with the rest of the items. There, she pushed the suitcase down the trash chute with the purple bag. Mi-jeong was still alive but froze to death trying to escape. Mu-gyeong believes Sarah knew she was alive.

A flashback shows Sarah running into Seong-sin after the fight. She was shaken and covered in blood. Later, Sarah’s tissue sample disappears from the hospital, suggesting Seong-sin helped her. The truth is that Mi-jeong had cut the CCTV cameras and planned to kill Sarah and take her place. They fought, and Sarah knocked her out. Afraid that reporting the crime would destroy Boudoir, Sarah went back and finished it. The ending of The ending of The Art of Sarah (TV Series 2026) shows that in the present, she withdraws her earlier statements and confesses as Mi-jeong. With no way to prove her real identity, Mu-gyeong arrests her as Mi-jeong. She receives ten years in prison. As she changes, a transplant scar confirms she is Sarah. Mu-gyeong visits her once. Boudoir survives, and she keeps her silence about who she truly is.
