King the Land (Season 1 Finale) Episodes 15 & 16: Last weekโ€™s episodes of ‘King the Land’ on Netflix showed its central couple grappling with the reality of their relationship. After enjoying each otherโ€™s company to the fullest, they finally had to go beyond the honeymoon phase. Meanwhile, Won encountered changes in his professional life. The chairman preferred him over Hwa-ran. So, she tried to tarnish his image by making Won and Sa-rangโ€™s relationship public. As a result, the couple had to face the reality of being from different classes.

After that, the chairman got Sa-rang transferred to their tourist hotel branch while Won was away on a month-long work trip. Won learned about it only after his return. However, the episode ended on a cliffhanger with him meeting his long-lost mother in person. Letโ€™s see how the wealthy heir manages his personal life conflicts in the seasonโ€™s final two episodes.

Episode 15

Han Mi-So (Nam Gi-Ae) shows up at the King Hotel and startles Chairman Gu Il-Hun (Son Byung-Ho) with her presence. She confronts him for choosing the company over her. We learn that she left because his wealthy parents did not accept her. On her way out of Il-Hunโ€™s office, she notices Won (Lee Joon-Ho) and recognizes him right away. Although he is hesitant to take the next step, he decides to have a word with her. While she is apologetic for leaving him alone as a kid, he relieves her emotional burden. This reunion wrecks him emotionally, but he does not show those feelings of hurt to her. Instead, he accepts that she needs to do what she did for her freedom.

At the King Tourist Hotel, the owner, Mr. Wang (Han Dong-Kyu), decides to sell it because of their poor business. Sa-Rang (Lim Yoon-A) tries to make him realize that they should put in all their efforts to save the hotel instead. But that does not help convince the arrogant man. On one of her work days, Won suddenly shows up and surprises her. He feels terrible that she had to suffer like this. She maturely deals with her stress and then brings him inside the hotel. While he helps her with her chores, Bo-Yeon (Kong Yi-Yeon) fails to recognize him as the hotelโ€™s president. He still diligently finishes his work.

Later at night, Won asks Sa-Rang to return to Seoul. She, however, wants to stay back since she loves the surroundings, the atmosphere, and the people living around her. During their conversation, she mentions the potential sale of the hotel. Won senses that she feels terrible about it. The next day, he walks around town with her, meeting locals and visiting the places to get an understanding of this area. Later, he joins the hotel employeesโ€™ dinner and makes a huge offer to the hotel’s narcissistic owner. Won plans to use the flora and fauna to their advantage to promise a relaxing experience to their customers.

Meanwhile, in the King Air crew, Pyeong-Hwa (Go Won-Hee) decides to retaliate against Byeong-Gu’s (Shim Jae-Wan) humiliating treatment. She kicks him on his genitals to show him his position. Turns out, Byeong-Gu was the terrible man behind the Pyeong-Hwa divorce issue.ย  After this beating, she leaves him feeling embarrassed. Ro-Woon (Kim Jae-Won) joins her on her way out and stays as supportive as he has always been. After going on a drive with him, she approaches to kiss him. That marks the beginning of their relationship. Later, the couple joins Sang-Sik (An Se-Ha) and Da-Eul (Kim Ga-Eun) on their surprise visit to the Tourist hotel to meet Sa-rang. Unfortunately, she had already left her job and went back to Seoul with Won. So, Sang-Sikโ€™s plan fails miserably.

Won returns to the King Hotel and receives a warm welcome. Il-Hun appreciates Won’s new decision to bring the Tourist Hotel into their groupโ€™s chain. But Hwa-Ran (Kim Sun-Young) is still bitter towards him. While he offers to join hands instead of constant fighting, she refuses to cooperate. Besides, she bribes her husbandโ€™s new romantic partner to leave him. Sadly, he refuses to stay with Hwa-ran after that. After their argument, Ji-Hu (Kim Dong-Ha) sees his mother crying and, to make her stop agrees to go to the US as she wants him to. It breaks her heart that he has to be this mature at such a young age.

While Hwa-ran tries to mend her relationship, Won decides to plan a fresh start to his. He purchases a ring, planning to propose Sa-Rang. They meet at a fancy restaurant โ€“ the same that he took her out for a meal to for the first time. To make this moment even more special, he also hires a man to create a heart-shaped pattern in the sky. When Won is about to take the ring out, Sa-Rang says she needs to speak about something important. Episode 15 ends with Sa-Rang saying that she needs to end it. It comes as a shocker and also hints at their possible break-up.

Episode 16

Turns out, Sa-Rang did not break up with Won. She only wanted to stop working for the King Hotel so that she could start her own business. Her grandmother gave her the courage to take this ambitious step. So, Won resists his urge to propose to her. He also cancels a pre-planned event so that she does not have anything else to be stressed about. Later on, she also shares this decision with Il-Hun, who apologizes for his past behavior. During her time away from Won, Sa-Rang realized that she could not stay away from him. If she had to choose, she would choose Won. That is also why she made this big decision.

In the hotel, Won presents several revolutionary ideas to create a global presence for the King Group. Besides, he promotes Sang-Sik to the position of Department Manager. Meanwhile, Sa-rang looks at different options of places to start her new hotel business. She finally accepts one of them with a homely feel. Pyeong-Hwa and Da-Eul celebrate Sa-rang’s success as their own. They also praise her for being her own boss. Grandma Sun-Hui (Kim Young-Ok) offers Sa-rang some money to help make her hotel look the way she wants.

Sa-Rang decorates the hotel on her own and turns it into a cozy place. Meanwhile, Ji-hu agrees to go to the US to please his mother. Won understands Ji-hu’s sacrifice and makes Hwa-ran aware of the same thing. He asks her not to let her son go to the US. She still does not listen to her step-brother. But, when Ji-hu is about to board the plane, Hwa-ran stops him and takes him back home. So, it gives a sweet turn to her personal life. In the hotel, Won makes many crucial changes. He cuts the policy of fake smiles and decides to turn the hotel into an innovative business. Besides, he also plans to provide his middle-class customers with great service to stand apart from their competitors.

King the Land (Season 1 Finale) Episode 16 Ending Explained:

Sa-rang finishes her work at Amor Hotel. She takes several pleasing photos and posts them online. Then, she also points out that advanced bookings are open. In the middle of the night, Won arrives there and surprises her. She reveals that she planned out the look and feel of this hotel based on the awkward first meeting they had – after he tried to rescue her through a helicopter. They end up spending that night together. Later, her hotel keeps being so booked that even Da-eul cannot find a booking. Ro-woon takes Da-eul for a long drive and, in the middle of their journey, reveals that they are meeting his mother. When he finally reaches there, she realizes that his mother has passed away.

For the Amor Hotel, Sa-rang plans to hire a part-time employee. But she fails to get anyone according to her requirements. Some of them do not want to do menial chores, whereas others do not want to work on the weekends. Anyhow, Won comes to help her with this need. Once she agrees to let him help, he finally proposes to her. Won asks for Sa-rangโ€™s hand in marriage, and she accepts. Later, they celebrate Sun-huiโ€™s birthday and make her feel like a princess. Won cooks multiple dishes to make her happy. Eventually, the fateful day arrives when Sa-rang and Won get married. Hwa-ran arrives there with Ji-hu and meets Mi-so. Everyone forgets their past resentments to celebrate the coupleโ€™s adorable marriage.
