Sensing a connection, Nowak turns to Badeni, a fellow researcher, and requests access to his findings.
Surprisingly, Badeni agrees and directs Nowak to the barn. However, the only significant item Nowak discovers is the heretic’s chain—an enigmatic artifact previously entrusted to Oczy by the heretic. Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 12 “Heliocentrism is My Faith” Recap:
The episode opens with Nowak telling Badeni and Oczy that he is an inquisitor. Recently, Nowak received a tip about some researchers in the area. According to the writer, the person found a diary with many codes. After decoding them, the writer realized it was advanced astronomy, specifically about an abnormal cosmos model. Unfortunately, the writer didn’t reveal their identity. Since Badeni is a researcher, Nowak asks if it is okay for him to check Badeni’s research. Now, Oczy is terrified, but Badeni permits Nowak to check the research. So, the duo leads Nowak to the barn. In the barn, Nowak checks the research and asks what Badeni’s primary focus is.
What is Oczy’s stand on how research should be approached?
Badeni says he is researching astrology, mainly about the effects of Mars being opposite to the Sun. For a while, Nowak does not find anything suspicious until he sees the chain Oczy previously got from the heretic. However, Nowak does not react and apologizes for inconveniencing them. Once Nowak leaves, Oczy explains about the necklace. Immediately, Badeni asks Oczy to get ready to leave in an hour just to be safe. Badeni makes such a decision as he cannot underestimate Nowak. While Oczy gets ready, Badeni burns some documents and books as Badeni wants credit for the work and will not pass it on to anyone else if he fails. So Oczy asks Badeni if it isn’t better to let others criticize someone’s work to reach the truth.
If one’s research is not left for criticism, then it becomes blind faith. Furthermore, Oczy recalls his former colleague and heretic, who didn’t care about going to hell but was more interested in completing the heliocentric theory. So, each of them passed the torch to the other to make corrections and complete the theory. Additionally, Oczy also says there won’t be much difference between Count Piast and them if they don’t let other people see the research because Count Piast did manage to better geocentric theory. However, Count Piast believed in his mistakes. The same can happen to Badeni. However, Badeni begs to differ on the stance Oczy takes, as it can be dangerous.
Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 12 “Heliocentrism is My Faith” Ending Explained:
Later, Badeni asks Oczy to leave. As Oczy walks, he sees a carriage arriving from a distance. So Oczy tells Badeni that Nowak is arriving. Badeni starts to pack his stuff and asks Oczy to burn the documents. Unfortunately, Badeni also wants to write a letter for the church, but Badeni doesn’t have the time. Even if Badeni manages to write, the letters will be intercepted because Nowak is chasing Badeni. In the carriage, Nowak expresses anger towards Badeni as he approaches his family (Jolenta). Now, Oczy asks Badeni to escape while Oczy fights Nowak. Badeni thinks this is a bad idea, but Oczy says Heliocentrism is his faith, and he will fight for it. The carriage driver suddenly halts, seeing Oczy in the middle of the road. Along with Nowak, four other inquisitors arrive who have been given orders to fire their arrows at will.
However, Oczy is sharp, dodges all the arrows, and kills three inquisitors. The fourth one gets scared and runs. Unfortunately, the inquisitor trips and falls on his sword, killing him instantly. In a flashback, we see a conversation between this inquisitor and Nowak. The inquisitor has never been in a battle before but recalls his sibling’s murder by a madman. The court rules that the devil possesses the murderer. This is the inquisitor’s trigger to fight. However, Nowak says he was a mercenary once, and the job has taught Nowak a lot. Also, Nowak says a person in battle should be more ready to die for a cause rather than have a willingness to kill. At present, Nowak and Oczy prepare their swords to fight.
Ultimately, Oczy buys time for Badeni to escape, but we are unsure what Badeni will do. In the next episode, viewers will perhaps witness a gripping showdown as Oczy and Nowak face off in an intense duel. However, it seems unlikely that Nowak will kill Oczy, given that the true heretic appears to be Badeni. Instead, Nowak may choose to capture Oczy, using him as leverage to extract information about Badeni.
