Citadel, On Amazon Prime: Citadel, the new American action spy thriller television series from Amazon Studios, created quite a buzz due to the actors playing the lead roles. This new adrenaline-charged series made Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas the apparent draw for their admirers. As a result, Citadel became possibly the biggest debut in terms of viewership for a series on the streamer.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke wrote on Instagram:

“Citadel, the #1 title on Prime! In its series debut, this show attracted one of the largest global audiences in the history of Prime Video – such an incredible performance for new and original IP.”

Looks like the immense star power of Priyanka Chopra Jonas in her home country became an important factor that the series received an incredible amount of traction.

She stars as a Citadel agent Nadia Sinh along with the Scottish actor Richard Madden starring as another agent named Mason Kane. Madden rose to fame with his portrayal of Robb Stark in one of the most popular fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones.

The series also stars Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville, besides the central pair, among the main cast.

With a production budget of US$300 million, the six-episode first season ranks as one of the most expensive television shows.

As per some sources, the Chopra Jonas starrer series is right after The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power in launch numbers. The Tolkien-universe series premiered on the 1st of September and gained more than 25 million viewers on its first day.

The Twitter account of Citadel also revealed that the series is Prime Video’s number-one title in almost 200 countries and territories.

Known for their chart-busting work for the Marvel studio movies, the Russo brothers served as the executive producers for this series. Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil created this series with them for Amazon Prime Video.
