The Boys (Season 3) Episode 6, Recap & Ending Explained: In last week’s episode of The Boys Season 3, Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), MM (Laz Alonso) decide to kidnap Crimson Countess (Laurie Holden). Why? Because after having a conversation with Legend (Paul Reiser), they understand that Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) is killing off every member of Payback for selling him off to the Russians. So, they think that if they can help him with his endeavor, then he’ll return the favor by using his powers to kill Homelander (Antony Starr). But the plan causes yet another rift in the team, largely due to MM’s traumatic past with Soldier Boy. It even causes Hughie and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) to part ways when they fail to see eye to eye with Butcher’s gameplan.
The Boys (Season 3), Episode 6 Recap: “This Is Herogasm”
To understand the opening of this episode, you need to know about the time Gal Gadot posted a video of herself singing John Lennon’s “Imagine”, along with Leslie Odom Jr., Maya Rudolph, Lynda Carter, Amy Adams, Sarah Silverman, Labrinth, Jimmy Fallon, Sia, Jamie Dornan, Annie Mumolo, James Marsden, Norah Jones, Mark Ruffalo, Pedro Pascal, Will Ferrell, Zoë Kravitz, Kristen Wiig, Chris O’Dowd (with wife Dawn O’Porter), Natalie Portman, Ashley Benson, Kaia Gerber, Cara Delevingne, and Eddie Benjamin. Why? To show solidarity while tackling COVID. Deep’s (Chace Crawford) video is a parody of that and it features Patton Oswalt, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), Josh Gad, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Elizabeth Banks, Kumail Nanjiani, Rose Byrne, and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).
After the video finishes, we see Homelander and Deep going over the footage of Soldier Boy’s explosion at Crimson Countess’s zoo/home. Ashley (Colby Minifie) and Noir are there too. They realize that Soldier Boy is back. Ashley starts to form a plan on how to control the news but Homelander says that if this information hits the news in any way and people get to know that the hero of heroes is the terrorist blowing up places in New York, then it’ll ruin Vought. After having a mini panic attack, Homelander decides that he and Noir are going to go kill Soldier Boy while Deep and Ashley remove every trace of his footage. But Noir ditches Homelander the first chance he gets and goes off the grid by removing the tracker that’s used to, well, keep a track of the Supes.
Then we cut to Soldier (eating a bunch of junk food), Hughie and Butcher holed up in a motel. Hughie notices that V24 goo is leaking out of his ear. Butcher reiterates the terms of agreement of this little team-up and Hughie convinces Soldier Boy by saying that he needs his help because he is too old to handle technology. In exchange, Soldier Boy needs to add Homelander’s name to his kill list. Surprisingly, he agrees to it and tells the two that if they help him find the rest of the members of Payback, he’s going to kill Homelander for them. Kimiko is kidnapped from the hospital by Little Nina (Katia Winter). MM and Starlight team up to go after Soldier Boy, Butcher and Hughie or at least get to Payback before the three of them do. Sensing that MM is going to do something stupid because of the way Butcher and Hughie betrayed, Starlight asks him to stay put until she gets back.
After Ashley is done watching A-Train’s horrendous pitch for a documentary series called A-Train to Africa, A-Train confronts her about the Blue Hawk (Nick Wechsler) situation. He says that he wants him to be punished by Vought, while she says that that is out of the question because Homelander wants to show the world that the Supes are united. When A-Train decides to go get Blue Hawk himself because he wants justice for what he has done to his brother Nathan (Christian Keyes), Ashley reminds him about his collateral damage. She tells him to “f*ck off” because his sense of justice is selective as he wants it only when someone else is at fault, while requiring protection when he’s the perpetrator. Deep informs Homelander that Noir has gone off the grid. Seeing him have another panic attack, he tells him that he thinks Soldier Boy is going after Payback and that’s why Noir has bolted. That also means that Soldier Boy might go for the Twins, Tommy (Jack Doolan) and Tessa (Kristin Booth). Homelander tells him to go to the location where the Twins are and inform him if Soldier Boy shows up.
After going back to his room, Homelander has a conversation with the psychopath version of him via the mirror because he is having a crisis of faith regarding fighting Soldier Boy. The mirror version of him tells him that he has got him through the toughest of times and he’s going to help him through this situation as well. Homelander tries to hide the fact that he needs to be loved by saying that he’s wondering if Stan (Giancarlo Esposito) was right about him. The mirror version of him asks him that despite knowing that that never works, what’s the reason behind his continued efforts to be appreciated by everyone. When Homelander fails to answer, the mirror version of him says that the reason he’s still a little weak is because a part of him is still human. He says that they’ll cut that part of him out like cancer and then he’ll get to be the best version of himself: pure, clean, and like marble. Starr’s performance is probably some of the best acting you are going to see all year. Simply riveting.
Soldier Boy watches a movie featuring him and the TNT (that’s what the Twins are called), while Hughie notices a spike in the geiger counter because Soldier Boy is getting angry. He starts talking about Bill Cosby, Afghanistan, raising a family with Crimson Countess and then being forgotten despite giving so much to the country. When he finally calms down, Hughie asks him about the time he caused the explosion in Midtown. Soldier Boy says that he doesn’t remember any of it and he doesn’t know how it happened. He says that he blacked out for 10 minutes. He says that he didn’t mean to hurt all those people because he isn’t a bad guy. When Hughie asks if he’s going to do anything like that, Soldier Boy says that it’s going to happen if the person in front of him deserves it. Butcher returns with the address to TNT’s Vermont home and he and Hughie get ready by taking the V24 while Soldier Boy suits up. Deep gets there before them and finds out that the Twins are holding a superhero orgy called Herogasm.
MM Almost Has A Face Off With Soldier Boy
Starlight attends an interview with Neuman (Claudia Doumit) and Homelander. They talk about the “terrorist attack” and when the reporter tries to insinuate that New York is unsafe, Homelander throws a fit and walks away. Neuman asks Starlight to have a sit down with her and she asks about Hughie. Starlight lies and Neuman jokingly reveals that she has powers. Starlight gets ready to attack but Neuman tells her to calm down because she’s not here to hurt her or her loved ones (and also, Starlight will lose if she goes up against her). She says that she wants to help Starlight with Homelander, Deep and Maeve’s (Dominique McElligott) disappearance. If Starlight lets her use her social media reach to boost her numbers, she can help her with Homelander. Starlight tells her to either pop her head or get the hell out of there because she is done doing favors. Neuman leaves (while telling Starlight to keep this conversation between them) but Starlight notices that her nose is bleeding; which Neuman did use a fraction of her powers on her.
Kimiko wakes up in Little Nina’s torture chamber where Cherie (Jordana Lajoie) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are already being held captive. Nina tells Frenchie to choose who is going to die first, Cherie or Kimiko. Kimiko uses a popsicle stick to open her handcuffs and does so at the nick of time because the gunman was about to blow her head. She kills the first gunman and then goes for the next. Cherie frees herself too and tries to help Kimiko but is knocked out. The second gunman pins Kimiko down and starts to punch the hell out of her injured stomach. Kimiko grabs hold of a stray nail and stabs him in the leg. Then she proceeds to stab the hell out of him, turning herself into a bloody mess. Frenchie says that Nina is gone, which means their whole ordeal is over. Kimiko heaves a sigh of relief and the narrative cuts to MM and Starlight going to the Twins.
MM tells Starlight about the night Soldier Boy killed his grandfather and how he believes that he’s responsible for putting his grandfather in the spot where the car hurled by Soldier Boy landed. Starlight urges him to not blame himself and MM says that that’s why he has all these little superstitious habits because he thinks if he doesn’t do that, Soldier Boy is going to come and kill the rest of his family. He says that he needs to end Soldier Boy before it ends him. They are greeted at TNTs house by Love Sausage (Derek Johns), the Supe with a prehensile penis. They pretend to be Supes who are there to partake in Herogasm. They see everything that is there to be seen in a superhero orgy. Starlight says that if Soldier Boy gets here, it’s going to be a slaughter and that’s why they need to get everyone out of there. Termite (Brett Geddes) brushes past MM, putting vaginal fluid on his jacket. When MM goes to clean up, he gets shot by a truckload of semen.

Hughie, Butcher and Soldier Boy scout the TNT household from afar. Fearing the worst, Hughie asks if he can get three minutes to get the exact location of the Twins so that Soldier Boy can get to them directly without harming anyone else. Soldier Boy lets him and Hughie teleports into the house, naked, thereby blending in perfectly with the crowd over there. Starlight catches Deep having sex with an octopus and she takes a picture of it and uses it as leverage to know why he’s there. Deep reveals that he’s there because of Homelander. Hughie does find the Twins nbut he runs into A-Train. After making some surface level taunts, Hughie asks A-Train to apologize for Robin (Jess Salgueiro). To Hughie’s surprise, A-Train does apologize (because now he knows what it feels like when a loved one is hurt by a Supe). Hughie still tries to start a fight but Starlight finds him and stops the fight. She tells him that they need to get everyone out of there because, as per Deep, Homelander is on his way.
It’s too late, though, because Hughie’s 3 minutes are over and Soldier Boy has entered the house. Starlight runs after him but Hughie teleports the two of them out of the house and near Butcher’s car. When Starlight complains, Hughie goes on a rant about how he is doing all this because he wants to feel as competent as her. Starlight says that she was under the impression that the V24 is messing Hughie’s head but all these thoughts are purely his. After cleaning himself up, MM comes across Soldier Boy. He throws a halothane canister at his feet and he simply picks it up and smokes it like a cigarette, as if it’s nothing (because it is nothing for him). MM says that he killed his family. Soldier Boy says that he has to be a little more specific because he doesn’t remember which one he is talking about. As MM squares up, Butcher intervenes and sends Soldier Boy in the right direction. MM starts a fight with Butcher, who is playing defensive because he doesn’t want to hurt him.
The Boys (Season 3), Episode 6: Ending Explained – Homelander Makes A Narrow Escape
Soldier Boy confronts the Twins. They state the fiasco at Nicaragua wasn’t their doing. When Soldier Boy says that if they identify the person who is behind his abduction, he’ll let them live. The Twins pin it all on Noir. Soldier Boy says that Noir cannot do anything without Vought’s say-so, which means that the Twins are lying. At the same time, he’s distracted by the Russian song playing on Love Sausage’s soundbox. Soldier Boy’s PTSD acts up and he starts charging again. The Twins make a hail mary attempt to use their powers on Soldier Boy but they fail. He explodes and unleashes hell on the whole house. MM and Butcher are knocked down. Hughie and Starlight feel the tremors from the explosion and she says she has to go. Hughie tries to stop her but Starlight knocks him down. The Supes emerge in pieces, burnt, and bloodied. A-Train sees this as an opportunity to attack Blue Hawk and drags him through the asphalt at super speed. Blue Hawk dies and, apparently, so does A-Train because of his heart issue.
Homelander lands on Termite and then makes his way into the house. Butcher regains consciousness and realizes that MM is alive. Soldier Boy re-emerges and he doesn’t remember that he is the one who unleashed all this chaos. The two lock eyes with Homelander. Homelander says that their deal is off because Butcher promised to fight him alone and he shoots lasers at him, knocking him out. Then he turns to Soldier Boy and starts talking about how he is his idol. When Soldier Boy says he is a cheap knockoff of him, Homelander says he is the upgrade and attacks Soldier Boy. Starlight takes MM away to help those who are hurt while Soldier Boy and Homelander continue to brawl. Butcher joins the fight with a bang. So does Hughie. The three of them pin Homelander down and before Soldier Boy can blast him, Homelander flies away. The three of them walk away as MM and Starlight watch on. Frenchie and Kimiko return to HQ and pontificate about their identities and the paths they’ve chosen. Homelander has a crisis of faith at Vought Tower.
