Set in the murky underworld of amulet trading—where belief and deception are inseparable—The Stone (2025) follows Ake, a young man desperate to pay his ailing father’s medical bills. Among his father’s old collection, he stumbles upon what appears to be the legendary Somdej Wat Rakang—a sacred Buddha amulet whispered to offer divine protection, yet shrouded in infamy after its rumored link to a powerful mogul’s assassination three decades ago.

In search of a buyer, Ake enters a labyrinth of faith and fraud, crossing paths with a vivid array of figures: the silver-tongued expert Seng Paradise, the elusive trader Muay, the authoritative head of Amulet Association Thailand, Sunthorn, and the enigmatic foreigner, Viktor. But the deeper he delves, the clearer it becomes—the amulet’s true power lies not in gold or relic, but in the desperate convictions people attach to it.

As Ake scrambles to verify its authenticity, he becomes a marked man, caught in a deadly game of greed, myth, and legacy. The Stone is a taut, psychological thriller that questions the price of belief and the shadows cast by the artifacts we trust to protect us.

The Stone (2025) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:

The film opens with some masked men shooting at a car. A mogul Boss, Ratt, is killed in the firing. The masked man picks up a Buddha amulet from the vehicle. Soon, the same patterns of the amulet are replicated and sold because it becomes popular. Thirty years later, a young man, Ake, is in the hospital as his father, Boonlong, had surgery. Boonlong needs to be on a ventilator as he is having difficulty breathing. Sadly, Ake needs money for the hospital bills. At home, Ake finds Boonlong’s collection of amulets. Among them is the Buddha amulet (Somdej Wat Rakang) as well. So, Ake goes on the internet and learns that this particular amulet is a legendary one. However, there are many fakes.

In one live video, Seng Paradise claims to be an expert in inspecting amulets. So, Ake sends the collection. Seeing that Seng thinks some of the amulets seem legit, he asks Ake to meet Seng at his shop. After this, Ake watches another stream by Muay, who is also an amulet trader. The next day, Ake meets Seng in his shop. After examining the collection, Seng offers Ake one million baht, as some of the amulets are genuine, but the Somdej amulet is a fake. Since Ake is unsure, he wants to check in other shops. Just then, another trader, Auan, arrives and checks the amulet, saying the same as Seng. Now, Muay also joins in, but Muay thinks this amulet seems to be like the original.

Is Ake’s amulet original?

Despite Seng trying to get rid of Muay, Ake listens to her and takes the amulets with him. Now, Muay says there is a competition happening soon, and Ake can enter the Somdej amulet to check its authenticity. If the amulet is legit, then it could be worth even a hundred million. Later, they dine together, and Muay shows Ake a trick. If the amulet is legit, then it won’t dissolve in water. It turns out, Seng learned the art of verifying amulets and trading from Muay’s father, Sunthorn, who leads the Amulet Association of Thailand. At home, Ake learns about the legendary amulet. The belief is that despite several assassination attempts and many bullets fired at Ratt, only one bullet killed Ratt. The reason is that the five order amulets protected Ratt. After Ratt’s death, the Somdej amulet was missing.

At the competition, Muay tells Ake a story about a man who put an amulet in his mouth to check the authenticity and was caught. They submit the amulet and wait for the results. There is an announcement that the Somdej amulet is the original one. There is a massive crowd around the table as everyone is fascinated by it. Now, Muay takes the amulet and jumps in joy. Furthermore, Muay promises to help Ake sell the amulet. At this time, Sunthorn gives Ake a certification of authenticity and asks Ake to call him if Ake wants to sell the amulet. At home, Ake gets a message from a man named Viktor asking for the amulet.

Where is the amulet?

In a minute, Viktor is in Ake’s home, attacking Ake, asking for the amulet. So, he says the amulet belongs to his father, prompting Viktor to accuse Boonlong of being a thief. Viktor breaks Ake’s fingers. Just then, Seng arrives and saves Ake’s life. Now, Seng wants to buy the amulet, annoying Ake. Unfortunately, Muay has stopped answering Ake’s calls. Turns out the amulet Ake has now is a fake, which infuriates Seng. Other than the judges, only Muay handled the amulet. When Ake reaches the hospital, he gets the devastating news that Boonlong is dead. At the funeral, a man (Noppadol Sirichai) chats with Ake, saying, Boonlong was his subordinate. When Ake asks if Noppadol can trace Boonlong’s missing things, Noppadol wonders if it is the amulet.

Ake follows Muay to a building, but when Ake calls out to her, Muay ignores Ake. Furthermore, Tod (Muay’s driver) stops Ake and asks him to get back home. At home, Ake has a dream where he sees Muay steal the amulet by putting it in her mouth. In a livestream, Muay talks about the amulet. In anger, Ake sends Viktor a message saying he knows where the amulet is. They team up to approach Muay. When they meet Muay on the sidewalk, the amulet is stolen from Muay, and Tod is severely injured. While Tod and Muay are driving to a restaurant, some goons attack them and steal the amulet. Now, the trio team up to meet Pairoj, who is keen on buying the amulet irrespective of the price.

What is Muay’s plan to confront Sunthorn?

Since Pairoj is a serious collector, he has the four amulets Ratt had, except for the Somdej one. So, the plan is to meet Pairoj and tell him the truth. That night, Muay asks Ake not to trust Viktor completely. Just then, Pairoj gets a message that Seng has arrived to talk about the amulet. In the CCTV, they are unable to make out the face. Outside, someone takes the man in a van and drives away. So, Viktor, Muay, and Ake chase after the van and see Seng and his team beat an older man. When Jiw looks through the older man’s bag, he finds Muay’s phone, and the man also has a bite mark on his arm. Because of this, Muay recognises the old man as one of the goons who stole the amulet.

The old man now reveals that it was Sunthorn who sent the man to steal the amulet from Muay. When the group starts fighting, Ake interrupts, saying he wanted to sell the amulet to save Boonlong, but now that he is dead, Ake decides to do what he wants. By then, Muay has given the group a plan to enter Sunthorn’s shop and confront him. The next day, Ake calls Sunthorn to arrange a meeting to sell the amulet. First, Ake and Viktor enter the shop. When Ake shows the amulet, Sunthorn says it is a fake. When Ake presents the certification, Sunthorn says it is a piece of paper.

Why does Noppadol visit Sunthorn’s shop?

Sunthorn pulls out a tray full of Somdej amulets and asks Ake to find the authentic one. However, Ake says he has no way of knowing but has brought someone who knows how to find the authentic one. Now, Muay and others enter the shop. The reason Sunthorn sent men after Muay was to teach him a lesson about the dangers of this industry. However, Muay only wanted to be like Sunthorn. So, Muay asks Sunthorn to make an official statement that she will run the shop and get the right to sell Somdej. This is a small request, according to Sunthorn, and he gives everything to Muay. There is a reconciliation. When Seng insists he has a right to sell the amulet as well, Sunthorn gets angry.

The reason Seng was kicked out was that he started to sell fakes under Sunthorn’s name. Furthermore, Seng’s reputation is ruined. The older man sold fakes to Seng, and he didn’t even realise it. It was a test from Sunthorn, and Seng failed. Angered, Seng pulls out his gun, and so does everyone else. So, Ake tries to stop them, saying he does not want anyone to die. Furthermore, Ake says no one is bulletproof like they believe. The amulets won’t save anyone’s life. On cue, Noppadol arrives asking for the amulet as it is part of the evidence for a thirty-year-old case. So, Sunthorn gives the tray and points at one amulet, saying it is the original one. Noppadol says Boonlong stole from Ratt as he was the leading officer in the case.

The Stone (2025) Movie Ending Explained:

Furthermore, Noppadol says Boonlong murdered Ratt. Sunthorn says the one in Noppadol’s hand isn’t the original one, but another one from the tray is. However, Seng says another one from the tray is the original one. So, Noppadol decides to take all the Somdej amulets in the store. However, Sunthorn points out that the statute of limitations for an unsolved case is 20 years, so Noppadol does not have any right to take the amulet. Furthermore, Sunthorn reveals it was Noppadol who ordered Boonlong to kill Ratt. Hearing this, Viktor is infuriated and starts firing at everyone. Everyone is down except Ake. One of Sunthorn’s men shoots at Viktor as well.

Suddenly, Viktor gets up and demands that Ake give the amulets, as Boonlong killed Viktor’s father, Ratt. In a flashback, we see that on the night of Ratt’s assassination, Viktor was in the car. Before Boonlong approached the car, Ratt asked Viktor to put the Somdej amulet in his mouth. After killing Ratt, Boonlong notices Viktor and takes the amulet. Later, Boonlong visits Viktor (probably in an orphanage), where Viktor grew up. It also seems like Viktor killed Boonlong in the hospital. Currently, Muay wakes up and kills Viktor. Next, Muay aims at Ake, but he runs away. The cops arrive, and one of them asks Ake how he managed to survive this massacre, but Ake does not answer. Later, we see Ake take out an amulet from his mouth. In the last scene, Ake receives a call from Pairoj, asking if he still has the amulet to sell.

While the film unfolds predictably and the chase lacks a real adrenaline rush, The Stone quietly compels the viewer to examine the difference between faith and blind belief. The pursuit of the Somdej amulet isn’t driven by greed or historical obsession, but by the deeply rooted belief in its power to protect. Time and again, we’re shown examples: Viktor’s survival, Ratt’s escape, and ultimately Ake himself emerging unscathed from a massacre—each reinforcing the myth of the amulet’s divine protection.

Pairoj’s desperation to complete his collection stems not from a collector’s pride, but from fear—a desire to shield himself through belief. In contrast, Ake enters this world with a clearer perspective. He doesn’t blindly worship the amulet, understanding that no object can truly safeguard anyone from death. Yet, after surviving what should have killed him, even Ake begins to waver. The final moments hint at a shift—he may no longer be willing to sell the amulet to Pairoj, as the seeds of blind faith begin to take root.

The film’s understated strength lies in this psychological turn. It shows how easily personal experience, coincidence, and trauma can forge belief systems—how faith, when shaped by survival, can blur into superstition. In doing so, The Stone invites us to question not just what we believe, but why we believe it.
