TIFF 2019: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Trailer & Images
High On Film has some exclusive first photos and trailer of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood for you. Marielle Heller came back to directing with the lauded and critically acclaimed Can You Ever Forgive Me? Her next feature comes with a range of expectations. One of the main reasons is the lead casting. Tom Hanks stars as Fred Rogers the heart of American television. Another reason is the kind of expectations it comes with releasing only a year after Morgan Neville’s wonderful documentary ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbour?‘
Only time is going to tell if Hanks has proved his metal yet again. And Only time can tell is Marielle Heller has managed to depict Fred Rogers’s personality accurately. For now, we have the wonderful news that the film will have it’s premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This doesn’t just give it a good stage but also promises Oscar season buzz that mostly starts around the festival and remains till the end of the year.
The official synopsis of the film reads: “A jaded journalist (Matthew Rhys) reluctantly accepts an Esquire assignment to profile the children’s television host Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks), and encounters a profoundly empathetic worldview that changes his life forever.”
The synopsis clearly clarifies that the film’s focus is on the impact of Fred Rogers’s teachings. His show has had an impact on a large number of people. If Marielle’s aim would be to show how essential it is to think like Rogers then she has got a winner. From the trailer, Tom Hanks looks like the perfect person to replicate Rogers’s life.
