You Hurt My Feelings Trailer

A24 has just released the trailer for its new comedy-drama ‘Your Hurt My Feelings’ starring Veep-fame Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the lead role. This is her second collaboration with Nicole Holofcener after over a decade. Besides her,  the film stars Tobias Menzies, Arian Moayed, Michaela Watkins, Amber Tamblyn, Owen Teague, and David Cross in the supporting roles.

Julia plays Beth, a writer who struggles with low self-confidence, and her therapist husband, Don, who is dealing with his own failures in his career. Beth’s world gets upended when she hears Don’s honest reaction to her latest book.

The new trailer gives a glimpse into Beth teaching young, impressionable writers who do not show enough promise. While dealing with them and Don’s self-esteem issues, she also tries to map out her relationship with their son, Elliott, and her mother, Georgia.

The actor-director duo of Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Nicole Holofcener previously worked on a charming romantic comedy – Enough Said, that also starred The Sopranos fame James Gandolfini in the lead role. The new trailer promises a similar relationship drama that revolves around the conflicts of its middle-aged characters.

The director Nicole Holofcener is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter who received the nod along with Jeff Whitty for her work on ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’. Besides, she is well-known for her earlier works like Friends with Money and Lovely & Amazing.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a revered name, predominantly in the TV industry. Whether as a lead in Armando Iannucci’s political satire, Veep, or the popular sitcom, Seinfeld, she has been unbeatable when it comes to the Emmys. On the other hand, Tobias Menzies is widely known for his stage work besides his TV roles from Outlander, Game of Thrones, and The Crown.

‘You Hurt My Feelings’ opens in movie theaters on May 26, 2023.

Obsessed, fascinated, and always nerding out about cinema! You can find me in the corner of a room ruminating over the last TV series I watched.
