Abhay Deol is known for his unusual choices for the films that have helped him carve a niche for himself. He was seen last in ‘Aanand L. Rai’ box office disaster ‘Zero’ in a guest appearance. His last feature film was 2018 horror-comedy ‘Nanu Ki Jaan’ direct by Faraz Haider, a remake of 2014 Tamil movie Pisaasu. He shares the screen with Mithila Palkar in Sachin Yardi directed ‘Chopsticks’, produced by Ashvini Yardi of Vineyard Productions. Netflix announced the project under its “See What’s Next: Asia” initiative.
Sachin Yardi made his directorial debut with C Kkompany (2008) and later directed ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum.’ Chopsticks is Sachin’s third venture into film direction. He is popularly known for writing the National Award winning film ‘Traffic Signal.’
Mithila was last seen taking a road trip down to South India with Irrfan Khan and Dulquer Salmaan in Akarsh Khurana’s Karwaan. Mithila Palkar has already worked with Netflix on a web-series ‘Little Things.’

Mithila plays a docile, taciturn and multilingual tour guide named ‘Nirma Shahastra Buddhe’ whose new car gets stolen by a Mumbai gangster, played by Vijay Raaz. She turns to Abhay Deol’s con man, named Artist, for help. The official synopsis describes Nirma as “an under-confident but talented girl, sidestepped at every stage of her life, who seeks out an enigmatic con to help recover her stolen car from a goat-loving, crazy Mumbai gangster”. Vijay Raaz was last seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, playing father to Ranveer Singh’s Murad. Netflix India releases the film on 30th May 2019.

Netflix is keen to expand in India and has been aggressively marketing as well. It has announced 10 new original films for India in partnership with top directors and producers of Bollywood, comprising Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Ronnie Screwala’s RSVP, Hindustan Times reported.
