Hulu has just released an intriguing trailer for its upcoming true crime drama, “Boston Strangler,” set to premiere in March. The film boasts a star-studded cast, featuring the talented Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon as a pair of courageous investigative journalists who embarks on a perilous journey to help capture the notorious Boston Strangler – a serial killer who terrorized the city during the 1960s with a gruesome crime spree.
The trailer provides a glimpse into the gripping true story, revealing the skilled acting performances of Knightley and Coon as the two reporters work tirelessly to uncover the identity of the Boston Strangler. The trailer also clues us into the countless obstacles, including unexpected twists and turns that challenge their investigative abilities.
Based on the chilling true story of the notorious serial killer who terrorized Boston from 1962 to 1964, the plot follows the trail of death and destruction that he left behind. Though the official death count of his victims was 11, many believe the true number of victims was much higher.
The film’s plot centers on the character of Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a tenacious reporter for the Massachusetts-based Record-American newspaper. She was the first journalist to connect the clues that would ultimately lead to the identification of the serial killer. The story charts her joining forces with her colleague and close friend, Jean Cole (Carrie Coon), to further their investigation, despite facing rampant sexism and misogyny, which was quite typical of the era.
Matt Ruskin, known for “Crown Heights,” helms the upcoming serial killer thriller. “I wasn’t exactly sure how to approach the film until I heard an interview with Loretta McLaughlin, one of the reporters who broke the story and was among the first to connect the murders,” director Matt Ruskin told People of his decision to center McLaughlin in the narrative. “
The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including David Dastmalchian of “The Suicide Squad” and “Dune” fame, veteran actor Chris Cooper, and Alessandro Nivola.
