Happiness Battle (Season 1), Episode 11: In this episode, we see Jang come face to face with the truth about her and Yu Jin’s past. She will go on an emotional roller coaster and have a guilt trip. Do Jun is getting in trouble for making hasty moves that frustrate him. Hye Jung will play an important role in the coming episodes, as we discovered in this episode how sharp she is in figuring things out.

Happiness Battle (Season 1), Episode 11: Recap & Ending, Explained
The episode begins with Do Jun talking to a lady in the bar, who he calls ‘mother’, scaring her. He gives her money and asks her to say something to the police. The lady says she will sell her daughter Yu Jin out for money. Do Jun gives her an envelope and tells her he already knows everything, so she should hear him out. Jang receives the package addressed to Yu Jin. The note reads “It’s the price of your life” and a key. Jang enters Yu Jin’s house, trying to figure out what the key opens. Jang reaches out to Jin Seop for comfort. Jang puts the address on the box on the internet, and she sees the karaoke bar ‘Marilyn.’
Jang returns to work, and her boss is happy to see her. She is dumped with loads of work, but Jang refuses to work unfairly. Jin Seop asks Jang if he is okay and what is on her mind. She shows him the note and key. Jin Seop is surprised after she confesses to him that she is scared about what she might uncover. Jang tells him that she just has to find out.
Jung Ah is pleading with the investors not to withdraw. Her assistant brings bad news saying that the bank will not be extending their 800 million won loan, and it has to be paid in 2 months. He also informs her that they will be short of three million won even if they sold the factory. Jung Ah runs into Na Young and Jo, and she is surprised to see Jo with Na Young. Jo tells her that she is A-rin’s nanny. Jung Ah tries to talk to Na Young, but A-rin calls out to her, and she walks away.
Jung Ah enters the house to find Jung Sik and his brothers partying. Jung Ah tells them it is not the time to party as she has more important things to discuss. Jung Sik disrespects her. Su Bin and Jung Ah lose their cool and break everything on the dining table. She tells her brothers that she was looking after them for 20 years because she was the eldest and because of their parents’ will. She tells them that she was not their ATM and they did not have a right to disrespect Su Bin. She tells them that she does not have money to give them anymore, nor will she give them any, and that they are on their own. She kicks them out of her house.
Su Bin assures her that he was not fine with being ill-treated, but it was bearable. Jung Ah informs him that they had to sell the house, and he supports her in her decisions. Jung Ah overhears Su Bin talking to someone on a call. Su Bin is heard saying he does not have money to give and he does not have any affair with a woman. Jang leaves work early to go to Marilyn.
She reaches Marilyn, and someone opens the door. She asks for Sim Hye Jung and the person asks what it is about. Jang opens her purse, and the person assumes Jang is a cop and pushes her, making Jang drop her bag. Jang follows the person but cannot catch up. She comes back to find her bag missing. She enters the bar to find the lady going through her purse. Jang asks her about Sim Hye Jung, but she asks her to get lost as no one by that name is there. Jang goes out, but one of the staff calls out to Hye Jung, and Jang goes back inside to realize that lady is Hye Jung.
Jang asks Hye Jung about the package and why it had arrived the day before when she had sent it in December. She asks her if she knows what has happened to Yu Jin. At first, Jang tells her that she is Yu Jin’s friend but later tells her that she is her legal sister. Hye Jung tells Jang that Yu Jin had left that key with her, and she does not know what it opens and she does not intend to tell her anything more as she cannot trust her.
Do Jun and Na Young’s husband devise a plan to frame Jang for Yu Jin’s death? The scheme is that Yu Jin was mentally unstable since high school, and after she met Jang, those emotions were triggered. They planned on taking fake statements from Yu Jin’s friends as well. Do Jun gets a call from Hye Jung informing him that Jang has visited her. Do Jun tells her that he has already warned her about it; Hye Jung informs him that she has the key and wants to know how she had it. Do Jun asks her why she had to complicate matters by sending it, and she informs him that she had sent it long back, but the package was delivered the day before.
Did Jun text someone asking if they had taken the package in December, and they replied ‘yes’. Do Jun asks them why they sent it back, and they reply that Do Jun had not kept his promise. He gets a call from the detective asking him to come in for questioning as a suspect in Yu Jin’s murder.
Na Young drops a pregnancy test in the washroom. She asks Jo to have dinner before she leaves. Jo asks her why she is not eating much at the dinner table. Na Young tells her she is waiting for her husband, who needs more attention than A-rin. She also tells her that she has been feeling queasy these days. Jo remembers Na Young mentioning the first time they met. Jo is suddenly angry and visits the washroom to find a pregnancy test. Jo leaves the house, saying she is not well. Na Young had visited a hospital and stolen a pregnancy test that read positive. Jo confronts Na Young’s husband and he is shocked.
Jang tries to find out more about the key on Yu Jin’s social media, but she finds no clues. She visits a beauty salon near the bar, and the lady there tells Jang that there are rumors that Yu Jin is Hye Jung’s daughter. Jang goes to the bar, but it is closed for the day. Jang calls her mother to find out about Hye Jung, but her mother hangs up.
Jung Ah calls Jung Sik from Su Bin’s phone, and Jung Sik speaks rudely. Jung Ah asks him about the woman, and Jung Sik says it is his source of money, and he does not want to tell her.
Jang visits Hye Jung, confronting her about her being Yu Jin’s mother. Hye Jung reveals the truth about Jang and Yu Jin’s past. She asks Jang not to act dumb after what she and her mother have done to Yu Jin. She shows Jang the room Yu Jin had stayed in after her mother had abandoned her. She told Jang that Yu Jin’s father and her mother had an affair before remarrying, and Yu Jin knew everything that was going on, unlike Jang. We see a flashback of Jang’s mother hiding the truth and ill-treating Yu Jin.
Jang confronts her mother about the truth. Her mother tries to lie, but Jang does not let go. Her mother blames Jang for not telling the truth as she wants to protect her. They get into a heated argument and Jang’s mother faints. Jang asks her mother about the key, but her mother plays dumb, and Jang walks away. Jang asks a locksmith about the key, and he tells her that it is an apartment storage locker key.
The episode ends with Jang trying to open the locker of Yu Jin’s apartment, but it is already open, and nothing is inside. Hye Jung calls Do Jun, asking about the key. He asks her to mind her own business, but she questions him, asking who had got that package and if it was his accomplice. He gets angry and asks her to stop calling, or he will kill her without anyone knowing. Do Jun texts his contacts, and the other person tells him that he has to keep his promise, and Do Jun says that the other person has killed Yu Jin. Jang tries to open the lock to the other storage and she is successful.
The last scene of the episode is Jang opening the locker and a flashback to the day Yu Jin died. We see someone peeping in, watching Yu Jin and her husband drink.
Happiness Battle (Season 1), Episode 11 Ending, Explained:
In this episode, we see Jang in constant shock as the truth about her past is revealed. She slowly understands how she had wronged Yu Jin without her knowledge. She also understands Yu Jin’s behavior back in school a lot better. We see a new side to Jang’s’ mother. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as we are to find out what is inside the locker.
It is clear that Do Jun is involved in Yu Jin’s death and who is this mystery man who killed Yu Jin. Su-bin’s truth is going to be revealed soon. Jung Ah has hit rock bottom now. Hurdles between Jo and Na Young’s husband. The more Jang investigates, the more the other characters’ truth is revealed, putting them in trouble. Do Jun will surely hit rock bottom soon.
Jang and Hye Jung should team up to take down Do Jun. It will be an interesting episode as more truths will be revealed.
