Leonardo DiCaprio New Movies: What The Hollywood Megastar Is Doing Next. Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most prominent and prolific voices in Hollywood. With a career spanning over nearly three decades, DiCaprio has garnered both commercial success and critical acclaim for his films.

Killers Of The Flower Moon

Since first working together Gangs Of New York in 2002, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have made five movies together. The actor-director duo responsible for many popular movies of early 2000’s last collaborated on The Wolf Of The Wall Street in 2013. The upcoming movie produced by Imperative Entertainment has attached Martin Scorsese to direct and Leonardo DiCaprio to star on an adaptation of “Killers Of The Flower Moon”, New York Times best-selling novel.

The story is set in 1920’s Oklahoma and revolves around Osage Native American tribe, who were the richest people per capita in the world. After oil was discovered under their land, Osage Nation, the tribe members were murdered one by one. As the death toll rose, newly formed FBI agents are sent to investigate the vicious crimes and unravel the conspiracy behind one of the most chilling crimes in America’s history.




Longtime friend and collaborator of Scorsese and DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, is also slated to be featured in the upcoming film. Production didn’t start until early 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns. Principal shooting is expected to last 16 weeks, which means “Killers Of The Flower Moon” won’t be released until the end of 2023 at the earliest. The film will debut on the streaming platform Apple TV+ in addition to having a limited theatrical run.

 

The Devil In The White City

Leonardo DiCaprio has long been attached to the adaptation of popular historical non-fiction book. “The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America” was written by Eric Larson. The book is based on the chronicles of a genius architect and America’s first notorious serial killer set against the backdrop of Chicago’s World Fair in 1893.

DiCaprio acquired the rights to the book as a starring vehicle for him. He was reportedly set to play the role of H.H. Holmes, the serial killer, with Martin Scorsese set to direct the film. Although “The Devil In The White City” was initially set to be adapted as a movie, the project has suffered a significant delay. According to 2019 reports, Hulu has stepped in on this ambitious project and the book is now set to be adapted into a limited series.




The story will focus on a crazed doctor who assaulted, tortured, and murdered a suspected 200 victims over the course of a number of years in his “Murder Castle” in Chicago. It remains to be seen whether Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also producing the series alongside Martin Scorsese, will get to portray one of the most sickening men in the US history.

Roosevelt

Another collaboration between successful actor-director duo, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese is underway, titled “Roosevelt”. The long-awaited biopic about the 26th President of the United States Theodore ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt has been under discussion for years. Paramount Pictures has attached Scott Bloom to write the script.

There are no further details about the movie whether it will be full biopic of the late American President or if it will only delve into a small portion of his successful political career. As soon as this project if off the ground, DiCaprio portraying another historical figure with Scorsese behind the camera, this movie is surely promising to be another standout collaboration between the two.

The Black Hand

Leonardo DiCaprio has been a part of some of the best crime movies of the 21st century. “The Black Hand” is film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stephen Talty. The movie will follow the efforts of a NYPD detective who made it his mission in life to taken on the Italian mafia that was prevalent in early 19990’s America.




DiCaprio will play the role of  Joe Petrosino, NYPD detective in this crime drama based on the origins of mafia in America. The thugs migrated to America from Italy and kidnapped people to extort money from their families. They were despised by law-abiding Italian families and helped by Petrosino behind the scenes.

There haven’t been any additional details regarding “The Black Hand” in the recent years. The rest of the cast is also remaining to be finalized. Let’s hope this riveting story sees the light of the day. After all, what’s better than seeing Leonardo DiCaprio play a hard-nosed, no-nonsense cop in the 20th century New York City?

The Crowded Room

Another long-rumored project involving Leonardo DiCaprio seems to be in limbo. Back in 2015, before DiCaprio won his first Oscar award, he was attached to appear in the psychological thriller drama “The Crowded Room”. The movie was going to be based on non-fiction novel chronicling the life of Billy Milligan.




Milligan was the first person to use multiple personality disorder as a defense in a United States court. DiCaprio has been interested to play the titular role of Billy Milligan and his 24 personalities as far back as 1997. At the time of announcement the movie was being scripted by Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg.

While no director has been attached to the project, several big film-makers including James Cameron have shown an interest in the adaptation in the past. There have been no further details on “The Crowded Room” for almost five years, lets hope the project isn’t officially dead.

Projects as a Producer

Leonardo DiCaprio founded his production company titled Appian Way Productions in 2004. In the last 16 years, Appian Way has produced 17 films including Aviator, The Wolf Of The Wall Street and The Revenant to name a few. In addition to films, the company has also produced some of the consequential modern documentaries like The Ivory Game, Before The Flood and Ice And Fire. They also dabble in several television programs including limited series with Disney+ titled The Right Stuff (2020).
