It was 2nd November 2015, a remarkable day in the week of cinematic wonders that is MAMI Film Festival. I was among the first few people to attend the Indian premiere of Haraamkhor. I brag about it because I was the last delegate, in (almost endless) stand by queue, who was allowed to enter the screening. I’ve seen people standing in the queue for hours and fighting authorities just to watch this movie. However, after few months, the role was reversed. The film had to stand in queue for almost a year and fight authorities in order to reach its audience. The film has emerged victorious in its battle against CBFC, but this victory would mean nothing without our support.

Christmas is a long cold night that we withstand by engaging ourselves in trivial activities like decorating trees, cooking turkeys and watching TV in the company of friends and family. Sure, it is a season of joy and goodness, but in the festivity of season, we should not forget those seasons of TV series that kept us going rest of the year, the seasons we binge-watched so relentlessly, they became part of our existence.

From Rod Serling to Dan Harmon, many showrunners have created Christmas episodes. While some episodes touch the standard holiday themes others tackle darker side of holidays such as depression and horror of isolation. From a vast array of holiday episodes, I have selected 10 that resonated with me the most. To make the selection process easier I have considered only stand alone episodes (of TV series) that are about Christmas or set in Christmas. When it finally ends, it leaves you with a very likable, warm and fuzzy feeling inside, and you go home with a heart full of happiness. Fantastic Beasts, in the end, stands as a really nice, endearing entertainer and one of the best movies I have seen in this year so far.
