“1992” episode one opens in a busy area in Spain. While Richi, the owner of a security company, is in the vicinity, an explosion erupts from a nearby car showroom. Immediately, Richi rushes to the building on fire to rescue his friend Alvaro and his wife, Amparo. However, when Richi arrives, he sees Alvaro dead but saves Amparo. During the funeral, Amparo recalls the time of the explosion. Just before the explosion, Amparo has argued with Alvaro on the call. Soon, Amparo reaches Alvaro’s office. While still on call, there is an explosion. When Amparo reaches the floor, Alvaro is burned to death.
Alvaro worked for a famous businessman called Valcarcel. After the funeral, Amparo tells Richi that she saw another dead person holding a figurine (Curro) from the Expo in Seville. In a flashback, we see that she faints soon after Amparo takes the Curro, and the Curro melts in the fire. Elsewhere, a person with body burns is surrounded by Curro dolls and figurines.
The next day, Richi meets his friends from the police and asks Commissioner Machado to dig up information about Valcarcel’s case. Meanwhile, Amparo’s son leaves for college, and Amparo has nightmares. Later, Amparo moves into her mother’s house. At the grocery store, Amparo has an emotional breakdown. However, Amparo runs into Richi, who is covering a shift for his employee.
Why does Machado inform Richi about Domingo’s death?
To discuss the case further, Richi asks to meet Amparo after his shift. Later, Richi takes out the memory card from the CCTV camera from the crime site. Richi meets Amparo and tells Amparo that he lost his family in a car accident, and he is the only one who survived. After chatting with Amparo, Richi meets Machado at the police station. According to the police reports, nobody has seen a Curro at the crime scene. In a factory, the person with the burns picks up a Curro figurine. Meanwhile, Richi tells Amparo about the police reports. Furthermore, Richi tells Amparo that he got fired from the police force due to his drinking problem. Despite that, Amparo wants Richi’s help as he is the only one who believes in Amparo.
Elsewhere, the person with burns follows another businessman, Domingo Granjero, into a building. While the person with burns changes his outfit, Domingo is on a call with someone, saying something is not a coincidence and that they should try not to die first. After that, Domingo relaxes in the shower. Subsequently, the person with burns enters the room and uses a flamethrower to kill Domingo.
When the cops and Machado arrive at the location, they are shocked to see the Curro figurine. Immediately, Machado informs Richi, who then tells Amparo. Now Richi realizes that Domingo worked with Valcarcel during the Expo. The Minister of Interior is also seen with Domingo and Valcarcel in a picture from the Expo. In the factory, the person with the burns crosses off Domingo’s face from the picture from the Expo.

However, when they get to the police station, they find out Machado has been transferred and Robledo has taken Machado’s place. So Richi calls Machado to ask for help. On the other hand, Amparo conducts research of her own.
After finding information about the others who are alive, Amparo tells Richi that the other two are in Seville and that they should head there. One person is Jose Zamorano, who lives in an old age residence in Seville. The other is Fernando Victoria, who has a tech company in Seville. However, Richi refuses to go to Seville, but Amparo makes her way to Seville without Richi.
Once Amparo leaves, Richi succumbs to drinking. The next day, Richi notices that the Minister of Interior, Estaban. J. Palacious has a book signing event, so Richi buys his book and meets the Minister. Inside the book, he writes that Estaban’s life is in danger. When the Minister looks shocked, Richi explains about the other two deaths. The cops arrest Richi immediately.
Who is the killer’s next victim?
In Seville, Amparo leaves a message for Fernando, as nobody can meet him without an appointment. There, Amparo meets a cleaner who asks Amparo to go back home as these things are dangerous. Once the cleaning lady leaves work, Amparo follows her to the old site of the Expo. One room is filled with Curros, but the lady refuses to reveal anything to Amparo.
Next, Amparo visits Zamorano, who is unwell. When Amparo shows a picture from the Expo, Zamorano looks at the rocket in the image and apologizes for putting someone under the rocket. Then, Zamorano says they have to burn the whole thing down. As soon as Amparo leaves the residence, the person with burns walks in and kills Zamorano. Meanwhile, Zamorano’s death reaches Robledo, who releases Richi.
Now, Robledo agrees to work with Richi under the condition that Richi does not do anything on his own. Unfortunately, Robledo has terrible news as Richi tells Robledo that Amparo is in Seville. In Seville, Amparo is at the old Expo site when the person with burns arrives. Seeing Amparo, the person walks away, but Amparo calls out to the person, asking if they are at Zamorano’s residence. Hearing this, the person runs towards Amparo, making Amparo run for her life. The cleaning lady tries to stop the duo, but Amparo climbs a structure and jumps off it into the water.

The episode opens with Richi en route to Seville. Unfortunately, Richi is unable to contact Amparo. Meanwhile, some teenagers find Amparo under a bridge by the river and call an ambulance. Since Amparo fell into the water, her phone has been damaged. So Amparo visits a small store and exchanges her watch for a phone. Immediately, Amparo gets a call from Fernando asking to meet her. At the restaurant, Fernando says he was a small fry playing with the big dogs then. In 1992, during the Expo, Domingo was a well-known developer, Zamarano was a commissioner, Valcarcel divided the money they made, Esteban was in charge of investments and marketing, and Fernando worked as an aide for Zamarano.
For the first official opening ceremony of the Expo, the team planned to launch a replica of Nao Victoria. During the launch, the ship capsized because of insufficient draft. The real story is that it was a sabotage. Later, the team learns that Zamarano received threatening letters from someone. One letter stood out as it was typewritten and succinct. However, Jose ignored it, just like the others. The blackmailer wanted cash in exchange for their lives and for the Expo to go smoothly. At that time, Estaban tried to talk to the Minister of Interior for help, but the Minister did not offer support. Next, the main building of the Expo catches fire, and the Minister paid but with the intent to catch the blackmailer.
Is Fernando dead?
The Security and National Research Council team sets a trap for the blackmailer and places the briefcase filled with cash in the dumpster. The whole team watched the dumpster and found a man rummaging. Immediately, shots are fired, but the man has picked up another trash bag and not the one with the money. The briefcase is there when the team looks inside the dumpster, but the money is gone. Since Fernando was a small fry, he took the fall for the situation. Now Amparo informs Fernando about the cleaning lady Rosa and asks Fernando to dig up information about her. When Richi calls Amparo, she takes her leave and meets Richi. After explaining everything to Richi, they meet with Robledo and visit Fernando.
Meanwhile, the killer places a bomb inside a Curro doll and takes a latex bath. Fernando shows the group all the documents and papers relating to the Expo. The group divide and look for clues. Soon, Amparo discovers that security was at the bare minimum on both days of tragedy during/before the Expo. They find out that the head of security then was Jose Luis Martinez Romeu. The trio tells Fernando that they suspect Jose’s involvement in the killings. So Fernando says Jose left for Miami after the Expo. Furthermore, Richi suggests Fernando pretend to be dead to trick the killer into thinking he has done his job.
At Fernando’s house, they realize the email is from an IP address in Miami. So Fernando asks Richi to go to Miami to check. At first, the idea was for Amparo to go to Madrid and Richi to leave for Miami. However, Amparo changed her mind and joined Richi. Meanwhile, Robledo is at the crime scene with Carmen, the lead investigation officer for the case. On their way, Amparo stops Richi from drinking. Furthermore, Amparo reveals to Richi her fight with Alvaro before he died. Unfortunately, Amparo thinks Alvaro is cheating on her, but Richi clarifies that Alvaro is with AA every Thursday. It turns out Amparo did not know Alvaro had a drinking problem and used to attend AA. Furthermore, Alvaro was Richi’s sponsor.
What did Richi and Amparo find out in Miami?
There is a storm in Miami, and Richi and Amparo share a room. Sadly, the IP address is fake, and the name Jose does not match anyone in Miami, as per the immigration officers. As the storm worsens, Richi and Amparo are forced to stay inside the hotel room. So Amparo starts drinking on Richi’s encouragement. After a few bottles down, Amparo is high and suggests sleeping with Richi. In the heat of the moment, they kiss, but Amparo starts throwing up immediately. The next day, Amparo is up early and gets information about Jose as Amparo realizes that Jose might be using his wife’s name. So Richi and Amparo meet Jose’s wife and find out that Jose died five years ago because of cancer.
Meanwhile, Rosa is awake, and Robledo tries to get information, but Rosa claims to have seen nothing. However, Rosa also says she placed the bomb. As soon as Robledo leaves, the killer arrives, and Rosa asks the man to kill her. Once again, Robledo enters Rosa’s room to find her dead. Outside, Robledo finds the killer and chases him to Le Cartuja. There is a tower, and the killer climbs on top, and Robledo chases after him. Tragically, the killer pushes Robledo, and he falls to the ground and starts to bleed immediately. Instantly, Robledo informs Richi and Amparo. By then, the killer cuts the call and drags Robledo to a room.
1992 (2024) Episode 5 “Those Were Different Times” Recap:
The episode opens with Richi and Amparo in Le Cartuja trying to find Robledo and the killer. As they explore the place, they find Robledo dead in the latex bathtub. Suddenly, Amparo hears a movement, and the killer pushes a rack on Richi. So Amparo tries to fight the killer, but he escapes. Both Richi and Amparo are at the police station to give their statements.
Once the procedure is complete, Richi asks Amparo to drop the case. Outside the station, Carmen is asked to drop Robledo’s case, but Carmen overhears Richi and Amparo talk. Now, Amparo wants to visit Rosa’s house, but Richi does not accompany her. Instead, Richi starts to drink. To find out about the killer, Amparo sneaks into Rosa’s neighborhood. Even though it’s a shady neighborhood, Amparo takes a strange man’s help to sneak into Rosa’s house.
Why do Carmen and Amparo visit Ramiro’s club?
The strange man brings more men, so Amparo locks herself in the bathroom. However, Amparo finds some clues in Rosa’s bathroom. Thankfully, Carmen comes to Amparo’s rescue, and they leave the area hurriedly. On the way, Carmen offers to help Amparo find the killer. Meanwhile, Richi continues to see a dead Alvaro and Robledo.
The reason Richi is drinking is to kill the guilt inside him as he was drinking and driving the day his wife and child died. Later, Carmen and Amparo visit the place where information about the Expo is stored since Amparo remembers seeing some tapes there. So Carmen and Amparo sneakily take the tapes and make copies. Through the video and a picture taken from Rosa’s house, they realize Rosa was a sex worker. To get answers, Carmen and Amparo visit the club.
There, they try to talk to Ramiro, the owner of many clubs in the area. When Carmen and Amparo bring up the Expo and the girls, Ramiro asks his guards to take the girls away. However, Carmen has a Taser, so she uses it to escape from the bouncers. Outside, a woman waits for the duo so she can give them answers. Meanwhile, Richi also finds some bills authorized by Fernando, which are given to Jose and Ramiro.
Richi visits Fernando to get some answers. The woman from the club says that the girls in the picture are Rosa, Margarita, and Azucena, and she is Azucena. The three girls were brought from Columbia to be sex workers and were best of friends. Sadly, Margarita used to bring her son Victor to the club when she had a client. At that time, Rosa, or Azucena, used to care for Victor.
How did Margarita die?
One day, the Expo members called for sex workers, and Rosa, Margarita, and Azucena were sent. Since the members were influential, they wore Curro masks that hid their identity. On that day, Margarita also brought her son Victor, but Ramiro kept Victor company. Unfortunately, Esteban accidentally killed Margarita while having sex. They called Jose to cover up the incident, but Jose demanded money. Since Margarita was dead, Rosa and Azucena tried to care for Victor, but Victor ran away from the house. The team needed money from the government to pay Jose. When the Minister refused to pay after sabotaging the ship, they planned to commit arson in the main Expo building.
Jose does not just burn the building but Margarita as well. Currently, Esteban gets a USB of him killing Margarita. Meanwhile, the killer is on his way to kill Ramiro. In a flashback, we see while Victor hung out in the tower of Le Cartuja, he saw Esteban killing his mother. Furthermore, when Jose committed arson, Victor tried to bring his mother’s body outside. In the process, he burnt himself completely. Despite everything, Rosa takes care of Victor.
1992 (2024) Episode 6 “I Did What I Was Told” Recap:
The episode opens with Richi at Ramiro’s club. The atmosphere is bleak, so Richi walks with caution. When Richi enters Ramiro’s room, Richie finds a dead and burnt Ramiro with a dildo in his mouth. Next to Ramiro, Richi finds Amparo’s phone and starts to panic. Luckily, Amparo calls Richi, and they exchange the information they have gathered. Meanwhile, Esteban panics since he does not have the money to give the blackmailer. However, Esteban’s colleague advises him to ask his wife Teresa’s family for help. Luckily for Esteban, Teresa and her family help him out. So Esteban sends one of his men to a locker at the train station to keep the money.
Why is Fernando fleeing from Seville?
Once the job is done, Esteban thanks Teresa and tries to sleep with her, but Teresa asks Esteban to jerk off, thinking about Margarita. Now, the killer comes to Esteban’s residence and uses the flamethrower on the security. Meanwhile, someone calls Esteban, asking him to murder the killer, and warns that if Esteban fails, then he will surely die. Esteban panics, and the killer is in the house.
Unfortunately, Teresa locks herself in a safe space, not allowing Esteban inside. This gives the killer a chance to burn Esteban. Just in time, Richi and Amparo arrive to diffuse the fire on Esteban. As they talk to Teresa, Richi, and Amparo are surprised that someone warned Esteban. The killer (Victor) is now on a train where he watches a video of his mother’s death.
Richi and Amparo visit Machado to find out who had called Esteban. Unfortunately, the call is traced back to a phone booth in Seville. So Richi and Amparo head to Seville. As the duo converse, they suspect Fernando is running the show. This is because Richi recalls seeing a post from a company that people usually visit if their company goes bankrupt.
To confirm this, Amparo asks Carmen to check for Fernando’s wealth and company details. When Richi and Amparo arrive at Fernando’s house, Fernando is already on the run. The suspicions are confirmed by Carmen as she tells the duo that Fernando is headed to Madrid and his company has been seized. In the train station, Fernando takes the money left by Esteban.
1992 (2024) Ending Explained:
Carmen follows Fernando inside the train station. We see a flashback as Fernando settles down with a whiskey inside the train. When Fernando learns that his company is going under, he tries to reach out to Esteban but does not get any response. One day, Fernando spots Rosa going toward the abandoned warehouse, so Fernando follows her.
There, Fernando sees the area filled with the Curro dolls. Furthermore, Rosa is giving food to someone. The next day, Fernando confronts Rosa about helping Victor. Rosa says she has been giving him food and nothing else. So, the next day, Fernando visits Victor and manipulates Victor into thinking that only the other members of the Expo are at fault. Fernando promises to help Victor get revenge. When Amparo reaches out to Fernando, Fernando fabricates an email by using a fake IP address to fool Amparo.
To build an alibi, Fernando placed the bomb in his office and injured himself on purpose. It is Fernando who called Esteban and asked him to get rid of Victor. Currently, Fernando spots Richi and Amparo on the train and starts limping away from them. Unfortunately, Fernando bumps into Victor. On one side, Victor is ready with a flamethrower, and Richi is prepared with a gun.
Even though Fernando pleads with Victor, Victor burns Fernando. Now, the trio chase Victor. Victor is about to use his flamethrower, but it malfunctions. So Victor pulls the emergency brake, which sends everyone flying. The gun is closest to Amparo, who picks it up and shoots it at the tank on Victor’s back. The police conduct routine questioning, and Carmen is sympathetic towards Amparo and Richi.
The cops also find Margarita’s boy hidden beneath the rocket at the old Expo site. On the other hand, Teresa starts a new political party to make Spain a better country. In the end, Richi asks Amparo out for dinner, but she says she has a lot on her plate as she has started to study again. However, Amparo promises to keep in touch.
It is revealed that Fernando orchestrated the entire scheme by manipulating Victor. However, Victor eventually uncovers the truth and kills Fernando. This realization stems from a pivotal scene where Victor watches a video of the night’s events, providing a critical clue that implicates Fernando in the conspiracy.
Amparo, still reeling from her husband Alvaro’s death—an unintended consequence of the revenge plot—takes justice into her own hands. It’s implied that she confronts Victor, and while it’s unclear if he survives, it seems likely he meets his end. For Amparo, taking down Victor may finally bring her the closure she seeks. Meanwhile, Richi embarks on a new chapter, committing to sobriety and making significant progress. Teresa, ever eager for attention, seizes the opportunity to capitalize on Esteban’s tarnished reputation, using his negative publicity to bolster her own standing.
Fernando’s motives are rooted in desperation and resentment. With his company bankrupt and his desire for wealth and status unfulfilled, he saw manipulating Victor as his ticket to power and revenge. Throughout the series, Fernando often laments being a “small fry among the big dogs,” making his actions a bitter attempt to settle old scores.
