Day Shift, the genre-bending August release on Netflix is a dream come true for every Vampire-action movie fan. The directorial debut of martial artist and action choreographer JJ Perry is an amazing culmination of comedy, action, horror, family love drama, and then some. This might even be THE action movie on Netflix’s 2nd half of 2022.
Starring Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and a cameo by Snoop Dogg, this movie is about a loving father who works as a Pool Cleaner and a Vampire Hunter. To stop his wife from taking his daughter away, he is forced to hunt vampires for money. So, to make ends meet he sets on this vampire hunting adventure along with Dave Franco’s Seth.
Being an action choreographer himself, director JJ Perry works it in his favor. However, the film is not just about action, it has a good mixture of comedy and love. Karla Souza’s portrayal of the vicious vampire serves up some interesting narrative turns as she is phenomenal in the role.
DAY SHIFT – ALL SONGS FEATURED IN THE NETFLIX MOVIE:
The score of Day Shift is done by Tyler Bates, who has made a name for himself for scoring some of the best action movie soundtracks in the industry. Some of his well-known collaborations are in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., John Wick 3, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2. He has also co-produced the entire soundtrack full of songs for the Day Shift album.
Coming to the soundtrack of the movie, it is packed with many old-school hip-hop songs to match up the action along with a song by Snoop Dogg who features in the film. Jamie Foxx, who is not a new name in the music scene, wrote the song “Bud (Mowing Down Vamps)” which plays during the end credits. He even released a music video for the song which is amassing big numbers on Youtube. “California Love (remix)” by 2pac (feat. Dr. Dre) is a classic hip hop song to match the vibe.
All of these songs along with the score by Tyler Bates makes the experience of this Vampire hunting adventure a lot more enjoyable. Just like the movie is a must for any action lover, this soundtrack is a must for music lovers, especially the ones who enjoy hip-hop.
