The new Midsommar trailer is here and it wishes you a Happy Midsommar! Ari Aster’s follow-up to the unsettling family drama Hereditary looks equally twisted and terrifying. With only one film under his belt, Ari Aster has established himself as the master of modern horror. He describes the film as “a break-up movie with a generous amount of psychedelia that delves into something sinister”. Film’s vibrant imagery and the occult rituals are reminiscent of Robin Hardy’s The Wicker Man.
The official synopsis from A24 reads: โA coupleโs vacation to a Swedish village takes a sinister turn when the insular townspeople invite them into a series of rituals that render their pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving, in this dread-soaked and viscerally disquieting psychological thriller.โ
